For one Hindi bhajan video, add it to an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. For a sequence of recordings, use VLC Video with Loop Playlist and VLC installed. A practical first configuration to test is 1920×1080 at 30 fps, H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and 10 Mbps video bitrate—provided your computer and upload connection can sustain it.
These settings help OBS send a stream YouTube can ingest; they do not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast. Test the entire audio, video, encoder, and network path before relying on it for a long-running channel.
Choose the right OBS source for your bhajan
One video that repeats
In your OBS scene, add a Media Source, select the local video file, and check Loop. OBS describes this setting as replaying the file when playback completes. The separate Restart playback when source becomes active option starts playback again when the source becomes visible; it does not make a completed video repeat by itself. OBS lists MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM among supported video formats. OBS Media Sources.

Several videos in a repeating sequence
Add a VLC Video source, create its playlist from your recordings, then enable Loop Playlist. This is the better fit when you want different bhajans to play in order rather than repeating one file. VLC must be installed for this source to work. OBS also lists MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV among supported audio formats. OBS Media Sources.

Build the scene and check audio
- Create a scene: In OBS, add the Media Source or VLC Video source to the scene you intend to stream. Scenes combine video, audio, and other sources into the stream layout. OBS Scenes and Sources.
- Fit the picture: Check the preview and ensure the video fills the canvas as intended. If the source and canvas have different aspect ratios, decide whether to preserve the full picture with unused space or crop some of the image; verify the result visually before going live.
- Listen to the stream mix: Confirm the bhajan audio is audible through OBS and not unintentionally doubled by desktop audio or another capture source. Check the actual output on your target system: audio routing depends on the device and setup, so a source configuration alone cannot confirm it is correct.
- Check the whole playback cycle: Let the file reach its end and confirm it restarts cleanly. For a playlist, verify that the next item plays and that the playlist repeats as intended.
Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate
A sensible first profile for mostly static devotional artwork is 1920×1080 at 30 fps. This is a starting point to test, not a universal requirement: higher resolution and frame rate increase the demands on encoding and upload capacity. OBS advises matching output resolution to the intended stream and testing system capacity, particularly at 60 fps. OBS Streaming Guide.
Use the YouTube bitrate figures for the exact codec, resolution, and frame rate you select. The following H.264 values are YouTube’s recommended live ingestion bitrates, with the platform’s corresponding minimums in parentheses:

| Output | H.264 bitrate | When it may fit |
|---|---|---|
| 720p30 | 6 Mbps recommended (2 Mbps minimum) | Lower-resolution output when upload headroom or encoding capacity is limited. |
| 720p60 | 8 Mbps recommended (3 Mbps minimum) | More motion at 720p, if the system can sustain 60 fps. |
| 1080p30 | 10 Mbps recommended (5 Mbps minimum) | A balanced starting point for static artwork and readable text. |
| 1080p60 | 17 Mbps recommended (6 Mbps minimum) | Use only when the content benefits from 60 fps and both the encoder and connection can handle it. |
These are YouTube’s H.264 recommendations; do not apply them unchanged to AV1 or H.265/HEVC. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends 10 Mbps for 1080p30 AV1 or H.265, with a 4 Mbps minimum. See YouTube’s current live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the codec and output mode you plan to use.

OBS output settings to check
- Rate control: CBR (constant bitrate), as recommended by YouTube for live ingestion.
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds. YouTube recommends this interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Video bitrate: Choose the recommended value for your codec, resolution, and frame rate in YouTube’s table. A 1080p30 H.264 stream uses 10 Mbps as the recommendation above.
- Codec: Use H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 only if your encoder and YouTube setup support your chosen option; bitrate guidance differs by codec.
- Audio: YouTube lists AAC or MP3, recommends 44.1 kHz for stereo, and recommends 128 kbps stereo audio bitrate.
- Ingest protocol: Use RTMPS where available.
In OBS, open Settings > Output to configure streaming encoder options such as rate control, bitrate, and keyframe interval. Set the canvas and output resolutions and frame rate under Settings > Video. The exact encoder options shown can vary with the selected encoder and system.

Connect OBS to YouTube and test before a long broadcast
- Set up the YouTube broadcast: Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or schedule the live stream. Check the current channel eligibility and Live Control Room instructions there; do not assume a particular channel can go live without confirming its status.
- Enter the stream key in OBS: In OBS, go to Settings > Stream, select YouTube if offered, and connect your account or enter the stream key provided in Live Control Room. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share screenshots that reveal it.
- Start a test broadcast: Use representative audio, artwork, and any motion from the planned stream. Confirm the loop or playlist behavior, audio level and sync, and that the selected resolution and frame rate appear as expected.
- Check YouTube stream health: Before making the broadcast public, inspect Live Control Room’s stream health and messages. YouTube recommends testing the encoder and connection and monitoring stream health during the broadcast. YouTube’s live streaming troubleshooting guidance.
- Monitor during operation: Keep an eye on OBS and YouTube’s stream status. A successful test is useful evidence for that setup, but it cannot guarantee a full-day connection or indefinite availability.
Keep the broadcast eligible and the recordings rights-safe
Using a looping source does not establish that a channel is eligible to livestream or that a particular broadcast will be accepted or archived. Check YouTube Live Control Room for the channel’s current requirements and check YouTube’s current archive behavior before planning around a retained replay or a maximum broadcast duration; those details are not established here.
Before streaming bhajans, confirm you have the rights or permissions needed for the recording, performance, composition, and any artwork you use. A devotional or religious subject does not by itself establish that a recording is free to use. YouTube may apply its copyright rules to music and recordings, so review its current copyright guidance and resolve any rights questions before broadcasting. For a practical preflight, use StreamNeo’s copyright safety checklist.

Troubleshoot common OBS and YouTube problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The video stops after one play. | The Media Source’s Loop option is off, or the wrong source type is in use. | Open the source properties and enable Loop. For multiple files, use VLC Video with Loop Playlist and confirm VLC is installed. |
| The video restarts only when it reappears. | Restart playback when source becomes active is being mistaken for the loop control. | Enable Loop to repeat at the end of playback; use restart-on-active only for the separate visibility behavior it controls. |
| YouTube reports unstable stream health or OBS shows dropped frames. | The upload connection may not sustain the selected bitrate reliably, or network stability may be poor. | Test the connection and review YouTube stream health. Reduce output demands or bitrate using the appropriate codec-specific YouTube guidance, and leave upload headroom rather than assuming the nominal connection speed is continuously available. OBS identifies dropped frames as a network stability or bitrate-capacity symptom. OBS dropped frames and connection issues. |
| The stream stutters or encoding struggles, especially at 60 fps. | The computer may not be able to encode the selected output consistently. | Try a lower frame rate or resolution, then test again with representative playback. OBS cautions that 60 fps can be taxing. OBS Streaming Guide. |
| The video is visible but the bhajan is silent or doubled. | The source audio may not be reaching the OBS mix, or another captured audio source may be duplicating it. | Inspect the audio meters and listen to the intended output; review source and desktop-audio routing on the target system. Test the finished signal path rather than assuming a meter alone confirms what viewers hear. |
| The broadcast stops after a connection interruption. | The connection or ingest session may have dropped. | Check OBS reconnect behavior and YouTube Live Control Room messages, then restore the connection and confirm stream health. OBS has an automatic reconnect setting, but reconnecting is not a promise of uninterrupted service. OBS documentation. |
