After an Airtel router reboot, OBS can resume streaming only once the router has finished restarting and your computer can reach the internet again. Check the OBS connection and YouTube Live Control Room; if OBS remains disconnected, reconnect or restart the stream using its existing YouTube settings. A router reboot alone is not a reason to reset your stream key, and automatic recovery is not guaranteed in every setup.
Restore the connection in this order
- Wait for the router to finish rebooting. Confirm that the computer has internet access by opening a website. If internet service has not returned, OBS cannot reach YouTube’s ingest server. Router indicators and recovery behavior vary by Airtel router model and broadband service; for a connection that does not return, use the router’s service/status indicators and contact Airtel for model-specific help.
- Check OBS. Look at its connection status and dropped-frame counter. OBS identifies dropped frames and intermittent disconnections as signs of a network problem between the computer and the remote ingest server. OBS Stream Connection Troubleshooting.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room. Review stream health and any displayed messages to see whether YouTube is receiving the encoder feed or reporting an issue. YouTube’s live-stream metrics guidance.
- If the internet works but OBS is still disconnected, reconnect the stream. Use OBS’s existing YouTube stream URL and key, then start the stream again. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses those values to send the feed. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Reset the key only when there is a key-related reason. For example, reset it if it may be compromised or YouTube or OBS reports a key problem. YouTube does not describe a routine router outage as a reason to replace it. See Manage live stream settings and Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream.
Does OBS reconnect automatically after a router reboot?
Do not assume it will. Whether the stream resumes depends on whether the internet connection returns, whether OBS can re-establish its connection to YouTube, and what YouTube reports about the incoming stream. The available guidance does not establish a specific recovery time or behavior for an unspecified Airtel router, service type, or OBS setup. Check both OBS and Live Control Room rather than relying on a single status indicator.

Prevent another network interruption
Prefer Ethernet over Wi-Fi
If the computer currently streams over Wi-Fi, connect it to the router with an Ethernet cable where practical. OBS warns that “WiFi may be unstable for streaming.” A wired cable can improve the local computer-to-router link; it cannot restore Airtel service during an outage or make an unfinished router reboot complete sooner. Leave upload headroom
YouTube recommends keeping 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the stream’s bitrate. Treat that as guidance, not a guarantee: a speed test does not prove that upload capacity will remain stable throughout a live event. Account for the primary and backup streams together if both are sending video. YouTube also notes that a network disruption can break a stream. YouTube streaming tips.

Check OBS network causes if drops continue
If the router and internet are working but OBS still drops frames or disconnects, compare the stream bitrate with stable upload capacity and review OBS network settings. OBS’s guide discusses using the default “Bind to IP” setting and trying IPv4-only as a diagnostic when appropriate; some listed settings are Windows-only. Dynamic bitrate is a fallback that can reduce quality, not a fix for the underlying network problem. The guide also lists VPNs, security software, network-priority utilities, outdated network drivers, router connectivity, Wi-Fi instability, and faulty network hardware as possible causes. When a backup encoder helps—and when it does not
A backup encoder is a separate resilience measure, not a repair for an Airtel connection that is still down. YouTube recommends testing failover by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet connection. That test can show whether a backup setup works, but it does not guarantee recovery from a router reboot or internet-service interruption. YouTube streaming tips.
