If OBS Studio cannot connect to YouTube Live over Airtel broadband, first verify the server URL and stream key in YouTube Live Control Room, then isolate OBS, security software, and your local network before treating the Airtel route as the cause. A failed connection by itself does not show that Airtel blocks YouTube ingest; the available official guidance identifies several possible causes, and does not establish an Airtel-specific block or outage.
Start with the exact OBS error
Note the exact wording before changing settings. “Failed to connect” or a timeout points you first toward the server address, RTMPS support, or network path. An SSL or certificate error can indicate a wrong server name or port. If OBS connects but the stream drops frames or disconnects intermittently, that is a different symptom from failing to establish a connection. YouTube’s RTMPS guidance discusses URL and encoder support for timeouts and server or port mismatches for SSL errors (YouTube Help: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS; Google for Developers: RTMPS ingestion).
Keep a short record of each test and change only one variable at a time. That makes it easier to see whether the failure follows OBS settings, this computer, the home network, or the Airtel connection.

Verify YouTube’s stream URL and key
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and copy the current server URL and stream key shown for your stream.
- In OBS Studio, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube if you are using its integrated service, or the appropriate custom-service option if entering a server manually. Match the server URL and key to the values from Live Control Room.
- Check the protocol. For YouTube’s encrypted ingest path, the URL should use
rtmps://, notrtmp://. YouTube says both the protocol and server should be RTMPS (YouTube Help). - Check the port if the encoder allows it. YouTube says port 443 may be specified for RTMPS. Use the exact URL displayed in your Live Control Room when available; do not substitute an address merely because it appears in an online example.
- Keep the stream key private. Do not include it in screenshots, public support posts, or logs you share without first removing it.
OBS Studio’s current service configuration lists these YouTube RTMPS endpoints: primary rtmps://a.rtmps.youtube.com:443/live2 and backup rtmps://b.rtmps.youtube.com:443/live2?backup=1 (OBS service configuration). These records can change as OBS is updated. Prefer the URL supplied in your own Live Control Room, and use the backup only when it is available to you and you are testing endpoint selection.

Check OBS network settings
After confirming the endpoint, review the network options in OBS. The OBS Project recommends leaving Bind to IP at its default setting for ordinary troubleshooting. If you suspect an IPv4/IPv6 interaction, try the IPv4-only option as a diagnostic test; return to the default if it makes no difference. On Windows, OBS also suggests testing its Network Optimizations and TCP pacing settings (OBS connection troubleshooting).
Change one setting, try to connect, and record the result before moving to another. Avoid treating a setting change as a fix unless the result is repeatable.

Isolate VPN, firewall, and security software
- Test with your VPN temporarily off. If OBS connects without it, the VPN path or its configuration may be involved. Re-enable it after the test if you need it for other activity.
- Check firewall and antivirus inspection. Security software can affect network connections. Use a brief, controlled test only if you can do so safely; restore protection immediately afterward. If the test identifies a conflict, configure a targeted OBS exception rather than leaving protection disabled.
- Record the result. A successful test identifies a difference worth investigating, but does not by itself establish whether the cause is the VPN provider, security software, or another changed condition.
These are among the local-software checks in the OBS Project’s troubleshooting guide (OBS connection troubleshooting).

- Restart the modem and router, then retry OBS.
- If you are on Wi-Fi, test a direct Ethernet connection when practical. If Ethernet is already in use, inspect or swap a suspect cable.
- For one test, remove unnecessary switches or Wi-Fi extenders from the path and connect directly to the router where possible.
- If another device on the same Airtel connection can run OBS, compare its result without changing the YouTube endpoint or other test conditions.
OBS lists network hardware—including modems, routers, cables, network cards, switches, and extenders—as possible sources of connection problems (OBS connection troubleshooting). A replacement Ethernet cable is relevant only if the local wired link is suspect; it cannot correct a wrong URL or a problem farther along the ISP route.

Compare Airtel with another network
Keep the same computer, OBS configuration, server URL, and stream key, then try a phone hotspot or another internet provider. If possible, compare the primary and backup YouTube endpoints as separate tests. Avoid changing several things at once: the value of the comparison comes from holding the setup constant.
- Fails on Airtel and the alternate network: Airtel alone is not established as the cause. Revisit the endpoint, OBS settings, security software, and computer or local network.
- Works on the hotspot but repeatedly fails on Airtel: this makes an Airtel-path issue more plausible, but it does not identify the exact cause or prove an Airtel policy.
- One endpoint works and the other does not: note which one succeeded and when. That is useful evidence about endpoint selection, not proof of why the other connection failed.
The OBS Project notes that instability can result from network issues between the computer and the ingest server, congestion, or hardware in the path. It recommends contacting the ISP after local troubleshooting is exhausted (OBS connection troubleshooting). No authoritative, current Airtel-specific evidence establishes a general block or outage for this YouTube ingest problem.

Do not use inbound port forwarding as a routine fix
OBS initiates an outbound connection to YouTube’s ingest service. The official troubleshooting guidance reviewed here does not support opening inbound router ports as a standard remedy. For YouTube’s encrypted ingest, first verify the RTMPS server URL and port 443 where supported (YouTube Help).
Or let it run in the cloud
If your actual goal is to keep a prerecorded YouTube stream running around the clock rather than diagnose a one-time OBS connection, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. For Indian creators, UPI works; cards are also accepted in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. This service plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
