For 4K/2160p at 60 fps on YouTube Live, set OBS to a video bitrate of 50 Mbps for H.264 or 35 Mbps for AV1 or H.265/HEVC. Those are YouTube’s current recommendations; choose the figure for the codec OBS actually sends. Neither an Airtel plan name nor its advertised speed proves that your connection can sustain the required upload continuously. Test from your streaming computer, then run a representative private or unlisted stream before relying on 4K60.
Recommended OBS settings for YouTube 4K60
Use YouTube’s encoder guidance as the starting point. The bitrate figures below are for video; audio and other network traffic add to the upload load. YouTube’s encoder settings page, verified in 2026, does not state a publication date. YouTube: encoder settings for live streaming.

These are YouTube’s settings guidance, not a guarantee of stable delivery on a particular Airtel connection. For 4K streams, YouTube says low-latency optimization is unavailable, so the stream is set to normal latency.
How to set the values in OBS
- Set the video output. In OBS, open Settings → Video. Set the output resolution to 3840 × 2160 and the common FPS value to 60. If the source is not native 4K60, scaling it up does not add source detail and may increase encoding load.
- Choose an encoder and codec. Open Settings → Output, set Output Mode to Advanced, then open the Streaming tab. Select an available encoder that supports the codec you intend to send. Encoder and codec choices vary with OBS version and hardware. Confirm the selected codec rather than assuming the bitrate recommendation is interchangeable.
- Set rate control and bitrate. Choose CBR. Set 50,000 Kbps for H.264 or 35,000 Kbps for AV1/H.265. These are video rates. If your available upload cannot hold the selected rate with headroom, lower bitrate or output quality rather than forcing the recommended number.
- Set keyframes. Enter 2 seconds for the keyframe interval. YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Set audio. Use AAC or MP3 and, for stereo, YouTube lists 128 kbps. Allow for audio in your total upload calculation.
- Configure YouTube ingest. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the live stream and use its stream key in OBS under Settings → Stream. Select YouTube as the service and RTMPS where available. Treat the stream key as a password: do not show it in a recording or share it.
Labels and encoder choices can vary by OBS version, operating system, and GPU. The important values are the selected codec, CBR, codec-matched video bitrate, two-second keyframes, and YouTube ingest settings.

Is Airtel Xstream Fiber fast enough for 4K60?
There is no single Airtel upload speed that applies to every Xstream Fiber customer. Airtel lists multiple plan tiers, and availability varies by location. A plan’s advertised headline speed is not a measurement of sustained upstream capacity at your streaming computer. Check your own plan and test the actual upload connection you will use. Airtel’s QoS report for the quarter ending December 2025 gives specific tariff-level figures, not a promise for a particular home or current line. For tariff 398, Airtel reported 30 Mbps offered typical upload and 30 Mbps 90th-percentile measured upload. For tariff 499, it reported 40 Mbps offered typical upload and 43 Mbps 90th-percentile measured upload. Those population/report figures are below YouTube’s 4K60 video recommendations in the examples above, and do not establish an individual subscriber’s sustained YouTube ingest performance. YouTube advises streamers to test upload bitrate. A single speed-test peak is not enough to establish that the line can sustain a live stream. Test at different times, with the streaming PC connected by Ethernet if practical, and account for household traffic and audio on top of the video rate.
Test the stream before an event
- Run upload tests from the streaming PC at more than one time of day. Use Ethernet where practical to distinguish Wi-Fi variation from the ISP connection.
- In OBS, select the codec you plan to use and its corresponding YouTube bitrate recommendation.
- Start a private or unlisted test using movement and audio similar to the planned broadcast. Check OBS for dropped frames and YouTube Live Control Room for stream health and warnings.
- Keep the test running long enough to reveal instability rather than relying on an immediate successful connection.
- If the stream is unstable, reduce bitrate first or step down resolution or frame rate, then test again. A lower-quality stream that stays connected is preferable to 4K60 that repeatedly drops or buffers.
When a wired connection may help
Connecting the streaming PC directly to the router with Ethernet can reduce Wi-Fi variability on the local link. It cannot increase the upstream capacity supplied by Airtel, so it will not solve a line that cannot sustain the required bitrate. Airtel describes router provision for listed plans, while YouTube’s guidance is to test the available upload capacity. A Cat 6 Ethernet cable is an optional way to make the wired test; no particular cable model is established as necessary.
