Nyuu is a command-line tool for posting binary files to Usenet through an NNTP upload server. It encodes content with yEnc and can create NZB files; it is posting software, not a Usenet access provider. Its options for multiple connections, retry handling, and piping make it suited to scripted workflows as well as manual uploads.
What is Nyuu?
The Nyuu project describes it as a “command-line binary usenet poster.” It sends files to an NNTP server, with features for encoding binary content, creating NZB files, and checking posts. You need access to an upload server separately; Nyuu does not provide Usenet service.
The project’s feature list includes NNTP over SSL, yEnc encoding, NZB creation with minification and compression, support for subdirectories, multiple upload connections, asynchronous post checking, and piping data to or from other processes. It also describes buffered asynchronous I/O and operation that avoids temporary files apart from NZB output. How do I configure Nyuu to post to a Usenet server?
The documented invocation is nyuu [options] file1 file2 .... Supply the server details required by your provider, then add the file or files to post. The full help lists these connection options:

Use the exact host, port, security mode, and credentials supplied by your NNTP provider. The help documents the settings, but does not establish values that will work with a particular provider. Nyuu full command-line help
Use a configuration file
Rather than repeat options for every run, the README documents configuration-file support. Pass a file with --config or -C. If you do not specify one on the command line, Nyuu also checks the NYUU_CONFIG environment variable for a default configuration. Keep credentials in a suitably protected configuration file or environment, rather than exposing them in shared scripts or logs. Nyuu project README

Does Nyuu create NZB files?
Yes. NZB creation is a documented feature, and the README also lists minification and compression options for the output. Nyuu can perform asynchronous post checking as well; the project describes retry options and configurable error handling for posting and checking. Consult the installed version’s help for exact syntax and behavior, since feature documentation does not establish that every server handles posts identically. Nyuu project README
What makes Nyuu useful for automation?
Nyuu’s documented controls are relevant when uploads are part of a script or repeatable workflow. The README describes multiple upload connections, retryable requests, recovery from connection interruptions, configurable timeouts and limits, and optional workarounds for server bugs. It also supports piping input or output to other processes and can expose optional upload diagnostics through a TCP/HTTP status server. Is Nyuu actively maintained, and what features are planned?
The project page surfaced v0.4.2, dated January 24, 2024. That is release metadata, not proof that no later development has occurred; check the project’s live releases and commit history before deciding whether its maintenance status meets your needs. Nyuu project README
The README lists Par2 integration for streaming creation, streaming 7-Zip creation, improved multi-server support, reposting missing articles or resumption, SOCKS proxy support, and a possible web interface as planned items. When should you consider an alternative?
Nyuu is a fit to consider if you want a configurable command-line poster and are comfortable managing server settings and scripts. If you prefer a graphical interface or need a particular platform, multi-server workflow, resumption feature, or integration with archive and parity tools, verify those requirements against current versions before choosing.
