NVIDIA says GeForce Experience will no longer be supported. Its FAQ still explains how to reinstall GeForce Experience after uninstalling NVIDIA App, but that is a rollback path, not a commitment to support the older app long term.
What changed since the RTX 50 launch?
The title’s “may exit beta” framing is now outdated. NVIDIA introduced NVIDIA App as a beta in 2024, describing it as an effort to bring together parts of NVIDIA Control Panel, GeForce Experience, and RTX Experience. In a June 2024 update, the company said it was on track to migrate GeForce Experience users by the end of that year (NVIDIA’s June 2024 beta update).
NVIDIA released a major NVIDIA App update on January 30, 2025, alongside the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 launch. That update included DLSS 4 and RTX 50-specific Smooth Motion messaging; these were launch features, not evidence that an RTX 50 card is required to use the app (NVIDIA’s January 30, 2025 announcement).
NVIDIA’s current FAQ says GeForce Experience will no longer be supported. It does not give a definitive date for when that support ended. The practical choice is whether you want the current NVIDIA app and its supported feature set, or prefer to keep using an older app whose support status NVIDIA has ended (NVIDIA App FAQ).

What can you do in NVIDIA App?
NVIDIA App brings together common driver, game-settings, capture, and GPU-management tasks. NVIDIA says it incorporates many top features from GeForce Experience and RTX Experience, and integrates Optimal Game Settings with NVIDIA Control Panel 3D settings. It also includes selected display, video, and tuning controls (NVIDIA App FAQ; NVIDIA App features).
- Drivers: Find Game Ready and Studio driver updates, with update information. NVIDIA recommends NVIDIA App for obtaining drivers.
- Game and graphics settings: Access Optimal Game Settings and NVIDIA Control Panel 3D settings, alongside selected display, video, and tuning options.
- Capture and overlay: Use ShadowPlay recording, screenshots, performance monitoring, and filters. NVIDIA lists capture up to 4K at 120 frames per second in AVI format; that specification describes the stated capture capability, not a guarantee that every system or game can sustain it.
- Discover NVIDIA apps and features: Browse NVIDIA’s app and feature offerings from the companion app.
NVIDIA App vs. GeForce Experience
| Task | NVIDIA App | GeForce Experience |
|---|---|---|
| Driver updates | Game Ready and Studio driver updates; NVIDIA recommends the app for obtaining drivers. | Historically offered GeForce driver updates; NVIDIA says GeForce Experience will no longer be supported. |
| Game and GPU settings | Integrates Optimal Game Settings and NVIDIA Control Panel 3D settings, plus selected display, video, and tuning controls. | Included some of the features NVIDIA says NVIDIA App incorporates; the consulted NVIDIA pages do not provide a complete feature-by-feature comparison. |
| Recording and overlay | ShadowPlay capture, screenshots, performance monitoring, and filters; NVIDIA lists capture up to 4K 120 FPS in AVI format. | GeForce Experience included features that NVIDIA says are carried into the newer app; the consulted pages do not establish a full comparison of capture capabilities. |
| Support status | Current companion app recommended by NVIDIA. | NVIDIA says it will no longer be supported; the FAQ does not state a definitive end date. |
| Rollback | Must be uninstalled before reinstalling GeForce Experience, according to NVIDIA’s FAQ. | Can be reinstalled, but that does not change NVIDIA’s stated support status. |
NVIDIA says NVIDIA App installs in half the time and has a 50% more responsive user interface than GeForce Experience. Those are NVIDIA’s comparisons; the FAQ does not specify a publication year, and they are not independent test results (NVIDIA App FAQ).

Will your GPU and PC run NVIDIA App?
You do not need an RTX 50 card. NVIDIA lists support for GeForce RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50 series, along with several GTX and MX families. Check NVIDIA’s compatibility information for your exact GPU, because app compatibility does not mean every individual feature is available on every generation (NVIDIA App FAQ).
NVIDIA lists these system requirements:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11
- 2 GB of system memory
- 600 MB of disk space
- GeForce driver version 551.52 or later
These are NVIDIA’s stated requirements; the FAQ does not provide a publication year for them. Some features are generation-limited. For example, the January 30, 2025 announcement described DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation for RTX 50-series GPUs and said it was available in more than 75 games and apps at that time. That was a launch-date catalog figure, not a current count. NVIDIA’s launch claims that Multi Frame Generation could generate up to three additional frames per traditionally rendered frame and deliver up to 8X frame rates applied to its specified comparisons, not to every game or system (NVIDIA’s January 30, 2025 announcement).

How to switch—and how to go back
- Check compatibility: Confirm your Windows version, available disk space, system memory, GeForce driver version, and GPU against NVIDIA’s requirements and supported families.
- Download NVIDIA App: Get the installer from NVIDIA’s official NVIDIA App page.
- Install and open the app: Use it for driver updates, settings, or capture features as needed. Check the requirements for any specific feature you intend to use; some are limited to particular GPU generations.
- If you want to return to GeForce Experience: Uninstall NVIDIA App first, then reinstall GeForce Experience. NVIDIA’s FAQ gives this as the rollback sequence, while also stating that GeForce Experience will no longer be supported (NVIDIA App FAQ).
Should you ditch GeForce Experience?
Switch to NVIDIA App if you want NVIDIA’s current companion app for drivers, game settings, recording, and related GPU controls. There is no physical purchase requirement, and NVIDIA lists support for GPU families older than RTX 50. Keep in mind that an eligible GPU for the app may not support every newer feature.
If you rely on GeForce Experience’s particular interface or workflow, NVIDIA’s FAQ describes a way to reinstall it, but the app is no longer supported. NVIDIA’s feature pages establish feature overlap and support status; they do not independently establish which app feels better, is more reliable on a particular PC, or suits every user’s workflow. NVIDIA’s performance comparisons are company claims, not independent benchmarks.
