The NuWave Bravo XL Pro is a roomy, feature-rich countertop oven whose strongest case is flexible cooking and decent air frying—not precision. RTINGS’ 2026 testing found useful capacity and crisp results on many frozen snacks, but also substantial temperature swings, uneven toast, and weak baking performance. It suits cooks who value presets and a temperature probe and are willing to monitor food; precision bakers and anyone chasing fast, consistent results should look elsewhere.
What model did RTINGS review?
RTINGS reviewed the standard stainless-steel NuWave Bravo XL Pro, model 20893LW. The company also has a Costco variant, model 80155CT, with a different included bundle. Check the model number and accessory list on the specific retailer listing rather than assuming every Bravo XL Pro package is identical.
The documented standard-unit accessories include an enamel baking pan, broiler rack, air-fry basket, two heavy-duty cooking racks, digital temperature probe, recipe book, and guides. The owner’s manual cited for care and safety below is for model 70001, not RTINGS’ tested model, so verify instructions and warranty terms for the exact unit you buy.

RTINGS reports space for a 13-inch pizza or six slices of toast, four rack positions, a temperature range of 50°F to 500°F, convection, a digital temperature probe, and manual control of the top and bottom burners. Maximum power draw for the tested unit is listed as 1,750 W.

Its modes include toast, broil, bake, roast, grill, pizza, proof, air fry, reheat, cookie, slow cook, and dehydrate. That breadth makes it a plausible substitute for several countertop appliances, but a long preset list does not mean each mode performs equally well.
How well does it cook?
RTINGS published its review on September 8, 2026, using methodology v1.0.1. Its ratings were 6.2 for mixed usage, 7.3 for leftovers, 3.4 for baking, 7.5 for air frying, 6.7 for toasting, and 7.7 for cooking capacity. These are RTINGS’ product-specific ratings, not guarantees of results in every kitchen.

Air frying: a relative strength, with uneven results
RTINGS found that the oven could crisp most tested frozen fries, nuggets, and onion rings, although some food burned at the edges or remained undercooked. In its fries test, RTINGS measured 77.4% crispy fries, 6.5% overcooked, and 16.1% undercooked; reaching 45% moisture loss took 23 minutes and 31 seconds. The reviewer also found air frying slower than expected.
Baking and temperature control: the main concern
Temperature control was the clearest weakness in RTINGS’ testing. It measured an average variation of 36.9°F from the set temperature and reported overshoot for much of the test. Cookies burned during repeated testing, and the review found that baking and reheating could dry out or burn food. That makes the oven a less reassuring choice for recipes where stable heat matters.

Toast: usable, but not symmetrical
RTINGS found that toast browned across each slice, but the two faces differed noticeably. Turning slices partway through may improve the result. Toasting was also slower than the reviewer expected, so the Bravo XL Pro is not an obvious fit if quick, evenly browned toast is a priority.
Who should buy it—and who should pass?
- Consider it if you want a large-capacity countertop oven, a probe for guided cooking, many cooking modes, and acceptable crisping for frozen snacks—and you are comfortable checking food and adjusting as it cooks.
- Look elsewhere if you bake precision-sensitive recipes, expect both toast faces to match, or prioritize fast air frying.
When comparing alternatives, look beyond mode counts. Check measured temperature stability, air-fry crispness and cooking time, toast evenness, usable chamber capacity, exterior footprint, included accessories, and current price. RTINGS’ comparison page names the Ninja French Door Premier FO101, but the available comparison data do not establish a definitive winner between the two.

Setup, care, and safety
NuWave’s Bravo XL Pro owner’s manual for model 70001, Rev. 1, dated May 21, 2024, says to leave at least five inches of clearance behind, beside, and above the oven and to keep vents clear. It states: “Never leave the Bravo XL Pro unattended during use.” Because that manual is for a different model from the one RTINGS tested, follow the manual supplied with your exact unit if its instructions differ.

The model 70001 manual also says to unplug the oven and let it cool before cleaning, clean removable parts with mild detergent, and use a dishwasher’s top rack only where permitted. Do not immerse the appliance. It describes automatic shut-off for overheating and suggests shaking or flipping food to address uneven frying. Its one-year limited warranty applies to normal household use subject to conditions and exclusions; confirm coverage for your model, seller, and location.
