Nova Minerals says construction of its planned antimony processing and refinery plant at Port MacKenzie, Alaska, is expected to start in the coming weeks, but only after the company receives its remaining permits. In its October 8, 2026 update, the company reported that key equipment has arrived and early earthworks are underway. It did not report that the remaining permits have been granted, and it did not say that facility construction has begun.
Where the Port MacKenzie plant stands
The clearest way to read the update is by stage. Nova has moved the project from procurement toward site work, but the plant itself is not yet under construction in the sense a reader might assume from the headline. The company describes the facility as modular and says it is designed to process stibnite-bearing material. Early earthworks are the only site construction the release describes as already underway.
Equipment delivered to Port MacKenzie
Nova’s delivery account runs in two steps, both reported by the company:

- September 6, 2026: more than 40 containers arrived by barge.
- October 6, 2026: the final major equipment reached Port MacKenzie. Nova describes this as another 10 truckloads.
The listed final shipment included:
- two ball mills
- a jaw crusher
- an apron feeder
- hydraulic filter presses
- ancillary equipment
Nova says it sourced the processing and milling equipment from a recently decommissioned North American site. The company states that this approach will accelerate construction and save costs. The release gives no cost figures or schedule comparison, so those benefits should be read as Nova’s expectations rather than measured outcomes.

What the plant is designed to produce
Nova says the facility will initially produce two products: antimony metal and military-grade antimony trisulfide. It is described as part of the U.S. Department of War project, which the company says is aimed at building a domestic antimony supply chain.
The company expects first antimony in 2027. That is a forecast. No commissioning, production start, or independent schedule confirmation is reported in the announcement.

- Bismuth is a chemical element with the symbol Bi and atomic number 83.
- The iridescent rainbow of colors is caused by light scattering off thin layers of bismuth oxide formed when the surface of the hot bismuth reacts with the air.
- Crystal bismuth will be oxidized during the production process, resulting in a variety color of the oxide film, it is very bright!
- Metal bismuth is a magnificent crystal which grows up in artificial environment. Each piece of bismuth crystal is unique and different from all other ones, so it's very meaningful to consider it as a gift to your relatives, friends, teacher and classmates.
- Bismuth chemically resembles arsenic and antimony. Bismuth is the most naturally diamagnetic element, and has one of the lowest values of thermal conductivity among metals.
Nova CEO Christopher Gerteisen said in the release: “This equipment delivery brings Nova Minerals a step closer to establishing a secure, vertically integrated antimony supply chain for the United States domestic market.”
Permits, milestones and status
The release ties the start of plant construction to receipt of final permits, but it does not list which permits remain or confirm their status. The table below separates what Nova reported as of October 8, 2026 from what is still planned or unreported.

Estelle 2026 field season
Nova reports that its 2026 field program at the Estelle Critical Minerals and Gold Project is complete. The company describes drilling of approximately 8,000 metres by three diamond core rigs operating around the clock from June through September. The release also describes geological mapping and surface reconnaissance between RPM and Revelation, and a detailed soils grid at Portage Pass.
Drilling targets
| Area | Company-reported drilling | Stated objective |
|---|---|---|
| RPM | Approximately 4,200 metres | Infill and expansion, including the RPM North eastern strike extension and higher resource confidence at RPM Valley |
| Nearby expansion targets north of RPM North | Approximately 1,500 metres | Expansion opportunities |
| Stibium | Approximately 800 metres | Targeted drilling across gold and stibnite anomalies |
| Total 2026 Estelle drilling | Approximately 8,000 metres | Company total |
The three area figures add up to about 6,500 metres, which is below the roughly 8,000-metre total. The release does not break down the difference, so readers should not assume the listed areas account for all the drilling.

Samples and assays
Nova says samples and core were prepared and shipped to ALS for analysis, with results expected in due course or in the coming months. No 2026 assay results are included in the update, so the season’s drilling has not yet produced reported grades.

Infrastructure work at Estelle and Whiskey Bravo
The release describes several infrastructure projects. Nova presents them as progress and stated plans, and the update does not give completion dates for any of them.
- Korbel-Stibium access road: construction is reported as underway.
- Whiskey Bravo airstrip and apron: expansion is reported as underway. Nova says the upgrade aims to accommodate C-130 Hercules aircraft.
- RPM road alignment: initial environmental baseline studies have started.
- Onsite crushing and ore-sorting facility at Whiskey Bravo: steel fabrication and site preparation are reported.
- Korbel metallurgical test work: ongoing, along with environmental and technical studies.
Nova gives the following freight payload figures for the airstrip. These are company-stated capacities.
| Aircraft | Stated freight payload |
|---|---|
| DC-3 (current, per Nova) | 7,000 pounds |
| C-130 Hercules (target, per Nova) | 42,000 pounds |
The U.S. Department of War award
Nova says the project is supported by a $43.4 million award from the U.S. Department of War, which the company ties to its plan to build a domestic antimony supply chain. The announcement does not give the award’s terms or conditions, and it does not describe any government statement beyond the company’s own account. Treat the award amount as Nova’s reported figure.

What the update does and does not establish
The update establishes that equipment has reached Port MacKenzie, that drilling and the field program are complete, and that samples have been shipped for analysis. It does not establish that the remaining permits are in hand, that plant construction has started, that any assays are available, or that antimony has been produced. Each of those points should be checked against later company filings or permit records when they are published.
