What’s new in Notepad version 11.2510.6.0?
Microsoft’s November 21, 2025 Windows Insider announcement introduced two headline features: tables in the editor and AI responses that stream onto the page while they are being generated. Tables in the editor
You can insert a table from Notepad’s formatting toolbar or by typing Markdown table syntax. After insertion, the November update lets you add or remove rows and columns using the table’s right-click context menu or the Table menu in the toolbar.
Streaming Write, Rewrite and Summarize results
Instead of waiting for an AI operation to finish completely, Notepad can begin showing the generated response as it arrives. This gives you an earlier preview and lets you interact with the result sooner.

How do I add a table in Notepad?
- Open Notepad on a Windows 11 Insider installation that has the updated app.
- Use the formatting toolbar to choose the table option, or enter Markdown table syntax in the document.
- With the table selected, open the right-click context menu or the Table menu in the toolbar.
- Choose the command to add or remove a row or column.
The announcement describes basic table insertion and row-and-column editing; it does not document spreadsheet-style formulas or advanced layout controls.
Does Notepad’s Rewrite feature work on my PC?
The November announcement said a Microsoft account sign-in was required for Write, Rewrite and Summarize. At that time, streaming for Rewrite was limited to results generated locally on Copilot+ PCs. That was the condition Microsoft stated for the initial rollout, not a confirmed rule for every later Notepad build.

Microsoft’s January 21, 2026 post for Notepad version 11.2512.10.0 said streaming support had expanded to Write, Rewrite and Summarize results generated either locally or in the cloud. It again required Microsoft account sign-in for those AI features. Read the January 2026 Insider update

Is the November Notepad update generally available?
Microsoft’s November post confirms an Insider rollout, but it does not provide a general-availability date for version 11.2510.6.0. The January 2026 post confirms later feature development in version 11.2512.10.0, but it does not establish when the exact November build reached all Windows 11 users. Availability can therefore vary by Insider channel, app version and device.

What Windows Insiders should check
- Confirm that the device is enrolled in the Windows Insider Canary or Dev Channel if you are trying the initial rollout.
- Check the installed Notepad version before comparing behavior with the November announcement.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account before using Write, Rewrite or Summarize.
- Do not assume that the November Copilot+ limitation describes the January 2026 or later implementation; Microsoft subsequently said local and cloud-generated streaming were supported in version 11.2512.10.0.
