NordVPN is a strong choice for people who want a feature-rich paid VPN, but the available evidence does not make it the best option for everyone. Independent reviewers rate it highly for speed, security and streaming, while also flagging renewal cost, feature limits by plan, app usability and privacy questions around connection timestamps. Its latest reported no-logs review offers meaningful, time-bounded assurance—not a promise about every future system configuration.
What NordVPN offers
NordVPN is a subscription service that routes internet traffic through an encrypted VPN connection. This can mask your IP address from websites and services you connect to, and it can help protect traffic on networks where you do not trust the connection. It does not make you anonymous in every situation: information you choose to publish, such as identifying details on social media, can still identify you.
NordVPN’s official 2026 review describes a kill switch designed to block traffic if the VPN connection drops, malware scanning through its next-generation antivirus, and post-quantum encryption. These are vendor descriptions; the precise availability and behavior of features can depend on plan, app and configuration. Check the current plan details before subscribing.
Does NordVPN keep no logs?
NordVPN says it has commissioned no-logs reviews from PwC Switzerland and, in later engagements, Deloitte. Its latest reported engagement was performed by Deloitte Lithuania from November 10 to December 12, 2025; the report was issued on December 12. NordVPN says the review covered standard VPN, Double VPN, obfuscated and Onion Over VPN server types, and concluded that its IT systems and supporting operations were designed and implemented in line with its no-logs statement. The company says the full report is available to account holders.

NordVPN describes the scope as a snapshot: “The assurance engagement took place between November 10 and December 12, 2025, with Deloitte assessing our systems exactly as they operated during that period.” An assurance engagement is evidence about the systems and operations examined during that period, not proof that nothing changed afterward. “No logs” should also not be read as meaning the service retains no account, billing or operational data whatsoever. Top10VPN’s 2026 review lists retained connection timestamps among its concerns.

TechRadar also reported NordVPN CTO Marijus Briedis’s comment on the West Coast Labs results: “These results tell us the product is doing its job where it matters.” That is the company’s interpretation of the test, not an independent conclusion.
What are the main drawbacks?
- Renewal cost: Top10VPN flags expensive renewal. An introductory average price can differ substantially from what you pay when a term renews.
- Plan-dependent features: Top10VPN notes that advanced features sit behind paid tiers. Verify that the tier you are considering includes the tools you actually need.
- App usability: Top10VPN describes NordVPN’s apps as less user-friendly than some competitors. This is a reviewer judgment, but it matters if you want a very simple interface.
- Privacy trade-offs: Top10VPN flags retained connection timestamps and the privacy risk of a dedicated IP. Consider whether those details fit your threat model.
- Double VPN speed: Security.org observed an average 80% speed drop with Double VPN in its tests. That is a reviewer result, not a prediction for every device or network; reserve the feature for situations where its additional routing is worth the slowdown.
How much does NordVPN cost in the US?
Security.org’s 2026 US review reported the following prices. “Average monthly” refers to the monthly equivalent for the stated term, not a month-to-month charge. These are dated review figures, not guaranteed checkout prices; geography, promotions, purchase channel and renewal can change the amount.

How many devices can you use?
Security.org’s 2026 review reports up to 10 simultaneous devices. It notes that setting up NordVPN on a compatible router can provide a workaround for devices covered through that router. Router setup depends on the model: check that it supports VPN-client connections and that NordVPN provides setup guidance for it. No particular router model is established here as compatible.

Who should choose NordVPN?
NordVPN is worth considering if you want a paid VPN with additional security tools and value repeated independent no-logs assurance, while accepting that the latest reported assurance applies to a defined period. Its strong ratings and test results make it a serious contender, not an automatic winner.
Compare other services before deciding if your priority is the lowest long-term cost, clear renewal pricing, a specific feature that may sit behind a higher tier, simpler apps, or a particular streaming service in your region. Compare privacy evidence by its date and scope, and compare speed tests by methodology rather than treating different publishers’ numbers as directly interchangeable.
