Nivalis Nights pairs cosy-game routines with a city shaped by debt, surveillance and corporate power. In Lyssa Greywood’s Screen Hype review, its appeal is the sheer range of activities—running a noodle stand, growing food, fishing, doing quests and building relationships—while its biggest frustration is that the game does not always explain how to do them. The result sounds compelling for players who enjoy busy life sims and can tolerate some rough edges.
What do you do in Nivalis Nights?
You take over a struggling noodle stand left by Thaddeus, along with a significant debt. Keeping the business afloat is only one part of the job: you can hire workers, grow ingredients in climate-controlled greenhouses or buy them, fish, complete quests, earn money and build relationships.
The city’s corporate order also shapes the choices around that routine. Greywood describes opportunities to cooperate with or resist CorpSec, interact with other restaurant owners and make morally compromised decisions. The activities are familiar from life and management games, but the debt and oppressive setting give them a more uneasy context.
Greywood reports that more than 130 NPCs wander the city, with some available as friends or romantic interests. That is the reviewer’s figure, not an independently verified official count. The challenge, as she describes it, is managing several demands at once: the business, quests, money and relationships.

What makes the cyberpunk setting work?
The dystopia is expressed through everyday pressures rather than just futuristic scenery: working conditions, debt, corporate influence and surveillance affect how ordinary people live. That contrast gives the cosy activities a darker edge; tending a business is not simply a relaxing side activity when the player is also trying to escape financial trouble.
Greywood praises the visual and sound design for building atmosphere with dark environments, neon, weather and futuristic music. She also highlights voice acting for interactable NPCs and reports that the soundtrack contains 54 tracks. Both the track count and the reviewer’s praise are claims from her review, not independently checked measurements.

What does the review praise?
Greywood’s central positive is the breadth of the game. As she puts it, “What I really enjoyed is how much there is to do.” The combination of restaurant management, farming, fishing, quests and relationships gives players several ways to spend their time rather than relying on one central activity.

Where does Nivalis Nights feel rough?
The main drawback in Greywood’s account is guidance. Tutorials leave some systems unclear; she gives fishing as an example, saying the game provides a rod without explaining how to equip it or fish. That can turn an appealing activity into a navigation problem rather than a satisfying discovery.
Finding your way around can also take work. Greywood criticizes menu filtering, cluttered quest tracking, a district map that looks attractive but does not help locate businesses, and inconvenient fast travel. She also reports glitches and crashes. These issues made parts of the game harder to navigate for her, although they did not stop her from enjoying it.

Who is Nivalis Nights for?
Based on Greywood’s review, it is most appealing to players who want a life sim with multiple overlapping systems and do not mind figuring out some mechanics on their own. The cyberpunk setting may also suit players who like cosy routines complicated by social and economic pressure, rather than a purely gentle, escapist tone.
It may be a less comfortable fit if clear tutorials, clean quest tracking and dependable navigation are essential to your enjoyment. The review’s positive verdict rests on the breadth and atmosphere outweighing those usability and technical frustrations for this reviewer—not on evidence that every player will feel the same way.
