Amazon status: check the live listing first
Do not assume the headline’s “invite only” wording is current. The original Amazon invitation rollout happened in July 2025. On September 22, 2025, Engadget reported that both the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mario Kart World bundle could be purchased from Amazon without an invitation. The live Amazon page must be checked for the current U.S. status.

Why did Amazon make the Nintendo Switch 2 invite-only?

What does a Nintendo Switch 2 Amazon invitation guarantee?
An Amazon invitation gives the selected account an opportunity to buy the specified product variation. An invitation does not necessarily guarantee a delivery date, a particular price beyond the checkout terms, access to the other Switch 2 variation, or inclusion of accessories and games.
An invitation also does not make a third-party offer legitimate. Complete payment only inside the official Amazon website or app. Amazon should not require an invited buyer to pay through an external website, gift card, wire transfer, cryptocurrency transfer, or direct payment link.
What should you do if the Request invitation button is missing?

Choose the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 when minimizing upfront cost matters, you already own Mario Kart World, or you want to choose another game. Choose the Mario Kart World bundle when you would buy Mario Kart World separately, provided the bundle’s extra cost is lower than—or comparable to—the game’s standalone price.
Availability can differ between the two products. Check both listings, but confirm whether the bundle includes a physical game, a download code, or another form of entitlement before completing checkout.
What comes with Nintendo Switch 2?

Do not pay for Prime solely because a third party claims Prime guarantees a Switch 2 invitation. Treat any current Prime requirement as something that must be stated on the live Amazon listing.
