In an interview answer reproduced by Nintendo Everything on October 3, 2026, producer Motoki Kaneda said: “My goal is longevity. I want Ninjala to continue for 10 years, 20 years, and beyond. We now have Ninjala and Ninjala 2, and the key for us is continuing to grow the series over the long term. That’s what I believe success looks like.”

Does that mean Ninjala is confirmed to run for 10 or 20 years?
No. Kaneda described what he wants the franchise to achieve. His words do not announce a fixed operating period, a schedule of future games, or a promise of ongoing updates for a set number of years. The ambition is to keep building the series; the announced sequel is the current evidence of that direction.

What is Ninjala 2, and how does it differ from the original?
The original Ninjala launched on Nintendo Switch in 2020. In a September 16, 2026 interview with AUTOMATON WEST, director Motoki Kaneda said the original had reached 12 million downloads. That is a reported download total, not a count of current players, active users, or sales.
Ninjala 2 shifts the series from PvP-centered competition to open-world action focused on PvE. Kaneda said the team wanted to broaden the characters and world, while responding to interest in both playing solo at one’s own pace and cooperating with friends. He also said, “We want to continue expanding and nurturing the Ninjala IP going forward.”

These are developer descriptions of the announced game, not findings from a finished-game review. Kaneda also described crafting and high-mobility ninja movement as part of the sequel. Kaneda’s comments connect the long-term goal to growing Ninjala beyond its original competitive format.
