There is no evidence here to name a tested “best” VPN for North Macedonia: provider listings establish advertised server availability, not local speed or independently verified physical placement. If you need a North Macedonian IP address while abroad, choose a provider that currently lists a North Macedonia endpoint and confirm whether it is virtual or physical. If you are in North Macedonia and want an overseas IP, choose the destination country you need instead; a North Macedonia endpoint is not the relevant feature.
Start with the IP address you need
A VPN routes your connection through a provider’s endpoint. The endpoint’s apparent location determines the IP location websites generally see; it does not, by itself, prove where the server hardware sits.
- Need a North Macedonian IP while traveling? Look for a current North Macedonia endpoint. Check its location type and test it with the services you intend to use.
- In North Macedonia and need an overseas IP? Select an endpoint in the country you want to appear to connect from. A nearby endpoint may be worth testing for responsiveness, but the provider’s country listing cannot predict your speed.
- Want a VPN mainly for privacy? Compare privacy evidence and app and protocol support rather than assuming a local endpoint or a marketing claim makes one service more private.
Country-level presence does not necessarily mean the provider operates physical hardware in that country. NordVPN’s directory distinguishes physical from virtual locations, so check the endpoint details if physical placement matters. Provider listings can change.
What the available provider information establishes
The listings below describe what providers advertise, not an independently tested ranking for North Macedonia. Check each provider’s current endpoint details and terms before subscribing.

| Provider | What it advertises | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| NordVPN | Its directory lists North Macedonia as one city. It documents NordLynx, NordWhisper, IKEv2/IPsec, and OpenVPN options. | Confirm whether the endpoint is virtual or physical, then test latency on your own network. The directory is maintained by the provider. NordVPN server directory |
| Proton VPN | Its page says it has servers in North Macedonia and supports major platforms, WireGuard, open-source apps, and commissioned audits. | Its speed, streaming, security, and service statements are vendor claims, not comparative test findings. Proton VPN server information |
| ExpressVPN | Its page describes 10Gbps virtual servers for Macedonia and makes privacy and throttling claims. | The capacity and performance statements are provider claims, not measured user speeds; its ISP-throttling assertion is not independently established here. ExpressVPN server information |
| Windscribe | Its North Macedonia page makes claims about its service, encryption, server network, and legality. | Its legality statement is marketing, not an official legal determination. Confirm current endpoint details. Windscribe North Macedonia page |
| Private Internet Access | Its page advertises North Macedonia servers, a no-logs policy, and a 30-day refund guarantee. | These are provider statements and terms can change. No independent local test is established here. Private Internet Access North Macedonia page |
How to judge privacy and performance claims
Look for evidence that matches the claim
A provider’s own page can establish what it says it offers, but not that it outperforms competitors. For privacy, look for independent audits and read what they covered and when; an audit is evidence about a defined scope, not a blanket guarantee of anonymity or future conduct.
Tom’s Guide reports NordVPN audit history, including a fifth audit in December 2025 and a sixth no-logs audit in February 2026. It also reports reviewer streaming tests, with a March 2026 retest. Those are reported audits and review tests, not tests from North Macedonia, so they do not establish local performance. Tom’s Guide NordVPN review

Do not read server capacity as your likely speed
Proton VPN and ExpressVPN each state 10Gbps server connection capacity in their respective materials. That is a provider specification, not a measurement of what an individual subscriber will experience. Distance, the user’s network, congestion, chosen protocol, and endpoint all affect actual results; there are no independent comparative speed figures for North Macedonia established here.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCheck the apps and protocols you will actually use
Confirm support for your device and the provider’s available protocols before buying. NordVPN documents NordLynx, NordWhisper, IKEv2/IPsec, and OpenVPN; Proton VPN says it supports WireGuard and major platforms. These are provider-listed capabilities, not a comparative finding about reliability or speed.

Check the legal and privacy context without overreading it
North Macedonia’s Agency for Personal Data Protection rulebook says that “remote maintenance must be performed via VPN” in a specific set of security controls for remote access and maintenance. That is a requirement in the described data-processing context, not a general legal ruling on every consumer VPN use. Agency for Personal Data Protection rulebook
The Network Readiness Index’s 2025 North Macedonia profile reports 78.08 for “Privacy protection by law content” and 59.01 for cybersecurity. A practical checklist before subscribing
- Write down the goal: a North Macedonian IP, a particular foreign IP, or a privacy-focused connection.
- Check current endpoint details: confirm the country and, if it matters to you, whether the location is physical or virtual.
- Match the app and protocol: verify support for your devices and the protocol options you want.
- Assess privacy evidence: distinguish independently reported audits from provider-authored policy and marketing claims; check audit scope and date.
- Test from your own network: where possible, use a trial or refund period to check the actual endpoint, responsiveness, and access to the services you need.
- Read the current terms: compare the total subscription and renewal cost, refund conditions, and any offer directly before paying. No current comparative price or promotion is established here.
What this comparison cannot establish
The available information does not show which provider is fastest from North Macedonia, which is the most private, or which will reliably access a particular streaming service. It also does not establish current prices or offers. Treat advertised locations and capabilities as starting points for checking, not as a tested local verdict.
