There is no evidence here that n8n ships a core built-in node named “Screenshot.” To capture a webpage in an n8n workflow, use a screenshot integration such as Allscreenshots, install a community node such as GetScreenshot after checking compatibility, or call a screenshot API with n8n’s HTTP Request node. The right path depends on whether you need a direct image or PDF, batch capture, or asynchronous job tracking.
What “n8n screenshot node” means
n8n describes nodes as workflow building blocks: they can start workflows, fetch or send data, and process or manipulate information. Its documentation distinguishes built-in nodes from custom nodes, but the phrase “screenshot node” does not establish that screenshot capture is built into n8n core. See n8n’s documentation for its node model.
This article concerns screenshots of webpages rendered by a browser, not screenshots or streams of a computer desktop. Those are separate tasks and require different capture methods.
Choose an approach
| Approach | What the available evidence describes | Consider it when |
|---|---|---|
| Allscreenshots integration | The n8n listing describes synchronous captures, asynchronous jobs with status, result and cancellation operations, bulk jobs for up to 100 URLs, screenshot composition, usage/quota operations, and webhooks for completion or failure. Allscreenshots n8n listing | You want dedicated screenshot operations and job-management features in an n8n workflow. |
| GetScreenshot community node | The repository describes a community node for webpage screenshots and PDFs directly in n8n. It does not establish compatibility with every n8n version, verification status, support, or ongoing maintenance. GetScreenshot repository | You prefer a dedicated node and have confirmed it works with your n8n deployment. |
| HTTP Request and screenshot API | The Browserless/GetScreenshot integration listing describes using n8n’s HTTP Request node with generic authentication to call GetScreenshot, with PNG, JPEG, or WebP screenshot output. Browserless/GetScreenshot integration listing | You need to call an API directly or want to control the request and response handling yourself. |
These descriptions are not a head-to-head reliability or pricing comparison. The available information does not establish prices, independent capture-quality results, or identical deployment requirements across the options. Check each live listing, credential instructions, and version compatibility before building a production workflow.

Allscreenshots
The integration listing describes both immediate capture and asynchronous job handling. An asynchronous pattern can suit workflows where capture completion is handled later: the listing includes status and result operations, cancellation, and webhooks on completion or failure. It also describes bulk jobs for up to 100 URLs, screenshot composition, and quota/usage operations. The 100-URL figure is the listing’s operational limit, not an independently measured capacity guarantee.
Before implementing, open the live listing and confirm its current node installation instructions, supported n8n versions, credential fields, operation names, and webhook setup. Those details can change; they are not established by the feature summary alone.

GetScreenshot community node
The project repository describes a community node for capturing webpage screenshots and PDFs within n8n. Community-node status means you should not assume it is built into core n8n or compatible with every hosted or self-managed edition. Review its current installation and maintenance information, then test it in the same n8n version and deployment type you intend to use.
Call a screenshot API with HTTP Request
An HTTP Request node is the flexible route when the provider exposes an API but you do not want or cannot use a dedicated n8n node. The integration listing for Browserless/GetScreenshot describes a generic-authentication HTTP Request setup, and says the screenshot can be PNG, JPEG, or WebP. Use the provider’s current documentation for the exact endpoint, authentication scheme, request parameters, and binary-response settings; these implementation details are not specified in the listing summary.

- Start with the input URL. Add a trigger and, if needed, a node that validates or prepares the webpage URL before capture.
- Add HTTP Request. Configure the method, endpoint and authentication exactly as the selected provider documents. The Browserless/GetScreenshot listing specifically describes generic authentication.
- Set the response for image data. Configure the node to handle a binary response if the provider returns image bytes, and use the output property expected by downstream nodes. Confirm this against the provider’s current API instructions.
- Route the result. Send the binary image to storage, an email, or another workflow step. If the API returns a job identifier rather than the finished image, poll or receive its documented completion event before consuming the result.
- Handle failures explicitly. Branch on API errors and timeouts; avoid treating a successful HTTP exchange as proof that the target page rendered correctly.
There is no single universal request body or credential configuration for screenshot APIs. Do not copy one provider’s endpoint or parameter names into another provider’s request; follow the API you selected.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A GET request takes a URL and returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. It can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with the response identifying the page verdict and billing status in headers. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents.
For n8n, an HTTP Request node can call the API. In the node, send a GET request to the endpoint below with query parameters; keep your API key in n8n credentials or another secret store rather than hard-coding it in a shared workflow. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for current request options and response details.

Configure the workflow around the output
Images versus PDFs
The GetScreenshot repository describes both webpage screenshots and PDFs. The Browserless/GetScreenshot listing describes image outputs in PNG, JPEG, or WebP. Confirm the selected provider’s actual response format and configure downstream nodes accordingly; image and PDF bytes should not be handled as interchangeable files.

Single capture versus batches or jobs
For a one-off capture, a synchronous API response may be simplest if it returns the finished file in the same request. For many URLs or work that completes later, the Allscreenshots listing describes bulk capture up to 100 URLs per job and asynchronous job operations. A workflow using asynchronous capture needs a completion path—such as the described status/result operations or webhook trigger—before it tries to use the screenshot.
Deployment and credentials
n8n says it can be run using npm, Docker, or n8n Cloud, and describes the platform as fair-code licensed. Those deployment choices do not, by themselves, establish that a particular third-party node is available or supported in every environment. Check current n8n and integration documentation for your edition, version, and hosting model before relying on an install or credential procedure. See n8n hosting documentation.
Troubleshooting screenshot workflows
- The node or integration is missing: Do not assume it is a core node. Check whether you chose a community node or an integration listing, and follow its current installation instructions for your n8n version and deployment.
- Authentication fails: Compare the API’s documented credential type and required key placement with the HTTP Request node configuration. The Browserless/GetScreenshot listing describes generic authentication, but does not specify a universal credential schema for other APIs.
- The output is not a usable image: Inspect whether the response is binary image data, JSON describing an asynchronous job, or an error payload. Configure the response handling and downstream file property to match the actual API response.
- The workflow runs before the screenshot is ready: For an asynchronous provider, use its documented job-status/result operation or completion webhook. Do not send a job identifier to a node that expects image bytes.
- The page is blank or incomplete: A completed request does not guarantee a fully rendered webpage. Check the provider’s documented render and wait options, and test pages that rely on client-side rendering or delayed content.
- Bulk processing stops at a limit: The Allscreenshots listing states up to 100 URLs per bulk job. Split larger input sets into multiple jobs and handle each job’s result and errors independently.
- It works locally but not in hosted n8n: Confirm current support for your hosting model and any community-node restrictions with the relevant project and n8n documentation; the sources do not establish universal compatibility.
Practical choice
Choose a dedicated integration when its documented operations match your capture and orchestration needs. Choose a community node only after checking its present compatibility and maintenance. Use HTTP Request when you want direct API control or the provider’s node is not suitable. For an automation that needs batch processing or later completion handling, confirm those operations exist in the exact integration you plan to use rather than inferring them from the phrase “screenshot node.”
