Ghost is a publishing-first platform that brings a website, newsletters, memberships, and paid subscriptions together. For a multilingual publication, its appeal is that it supports publishing in many languages while providing built-in tools to communicate with readers. That does not mean it automatically translates posts or handles every multilingual SEO decision for you.
This is a researched explanation of why Ghost may suit a creator building a multilingual blog—not a personal account of testing or a claim that it is the best choice for everyone.
Why choose Ghost for a multilingual blog?
Ghost’s product is organized around publishing and the relationship between a publication and its audience. Its official feature overview describes newsletters, audience tools, analytics, and paid tiers alongside the publishing platform. For a writer or small publisher, keeping those functions together can make Ghost an appealing alternative to assembling separate tools.
The practical case is strongest when the site is primarily a blog, newsletter, or publication and the creator wants readers to be able to subscribe—free or paid—within that publishing experience. These are capabilities, not guarantees of audience growth, revenue, or ease of use for a particular team.

What does Ghost’s language support cover?
Publishing content in multiple languages
Ghost’s Ghost 6.0 feature page says it supports publishing in “over 60 different languages.” That is Ghost’s product claim about language support; it is not an independently audited count, a measure of how many customer sites use those languages, or a promise that Ghost will translate an article for you.
You still need to decide how to produce and review each language version, how readers will find the appropriate version, and how the site will handle language-specific URLs and search optimization. The cited product information does not prescribe a locale URL structure or a complete multilingual SEO setup.

Member-facing interface translations
Language support for your articles is distinct from the language of membership forms and system messages. In a June 12, 2023 announcement, Ghost said that Portal signup, sign-in, and account UI, system emails, and theme components injected by Ghost could be translated. The announcement reported 33 supported languages for that work at the time. That dated figure describes those member-facing components then; it should not be confused with Ghost 6.0’s later claim about publishing in over 60 languages.

What should you check before choosing Ghost(Pro)?
Ghost(Pro) is Ghost’s managed-hosting option. Its pricing page lists custom domains and internationalization, with member allowances and other features that depend on the plan. It also lists paid subscriptions on eligible paid plans, multiple tiers, and no additional Ghost transaction fee for eligible subscriptions. Plan names, prices, allowances, and included features can change, so verify the live page for your region and intended plan before deciding.
A 0% Ghost transaction fee does not mean payment processing is free: processor fees may still apply. Ghost’s Help Center explains that distinction in its FAQ. Confirm which payment methods and processor costs apply to your audience and geography before relying on subscription revenue.

Can Ghost work as a headless CMS?
Yes. Ghost’s Help Center says Ghost(Pro) can be used as a headless CMS with third-party front-end frameworks such as Next.js and Gatsby. In that arrangement, Ghost handles content while a separately built front end presents the site. It can suit a team with technical resources and a specific front-end requirement, but it is a more involved implementation than using Ghost as a conventional blog.
