The MSI Stealth A18 AI+ pairs an 18-inch UHD+ Mini LED display with an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU listed at up to 150W, while ASUS lists its 2026 ROG Strix SCAR 18 RTX 5090 option at up to 175W and offers a 240Hz 4K Mini LED panel. Those differences make the exact configuration—not the RTX 5090 name alone—the right basis for comparison. The US Stealth SKU detailed here is A3XWJG-006US; verify the region and SKU of any alternative before comparing specifications or prices.
Start with the exact configuration
“RTX 5090” identifies the laptop GPU class, but does not by itself tell you how much power a particular laptop allows it to use or what display, memory, processor, and storage you are buying. MSI’s US store listing for the Stealth A18 AI+ A3XWJG-006US specifies a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with 24GB GDDR7, 64GB DDR5-5600 memory, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. MSI’s series specifications list up to 150W maximum graphics power with Dynamic Boost and note that power can vary by scenario. MSI A3XW specifications · MSI US store listing
That distinction matters when assessing performance claims: a review of a different RTX 5090 laptop is not a benchmark of the Stealth. Look for the full laptop model, GPU power limit or mode, game, resolution, and test method before treating results as comparable.
How the Stealth compares with the 2026 ROG Strix SCAR 18
The SCAR 18 is a useful specification contrast, not a universal performance winner. ASUS lists its 2026 RTX 5090 option at up to 175W TGP, alongside an 18-inch 4K Mini LED display with a 240Hz refresh rate. The Stealth’s US listing has a 3840×2400, 120Hz Mini LED panel. ASUS also lists options up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, 128GB of memory, and 8TB of storage; those are maximums, not guaranteed specifications for every configuration. Check the precise regional SKU before comparing. ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2026) specifications

|---|---|---|
| GPU | RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, 24GB GDDR7; up to 150W maximum graphics power with Dynamic Boost on MSI’s A3XW series specifications; scenario variation noted by MSI. | RTX 5090 Laptop GPU option, up to 175W TGP on ASUS’s 2026 product page. |
| Display | 18-inch UHD+ (3840×2400) Mini LED, 120Hz on the US listing. | 18-inch 4K Mini LED, 240Hz on the 2026 product page. |

| Cooling and chassis claims | MSI describes a vapor chamber, two fans, four exhausts, and a magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis. | ASUS describes a vapor chamber, sandwich heatsink, and tri-fan cooling. |
| Weight and portability | Exact weight for the named US RTX 5090 configuration is not stated in the cited MSI listing. | Exact weight for the RTX 5090 configuration is not stated on the cited ASUS product page. |
Both brands’ cooling descriptions are manufacturer claims, not comparative thermal tests. Likewise, the 150W and 175W figures describe listed power ceilings, not a guarantee that either GPU will sustain that power in every workload. Display resolution and refresh rate are distinct buying considerations: a higher refresh ceiling may matter for high-frame-rate play, while the Stealth’s specified 3840×2400 resolution may better suit someone prioritizing pixel density. The actual experience depends on the game and settings.
What available review results can—and cannot—tell you
GamesRadar’s 2026 comparison coverage reported that the ASUS SCAR 18 won seven of the comparison tests and the MSI Raider A18 HX won six in the set it used. That tally describes that review’s tests, not a general ranking of RTX 5090 laptops or a result for the Stealth A18. GamesRadar SCAR 18 review

In a separate GamesRadar comparison, the Razer Blade 18 averaged 86 fps and the MSI Raider A18 HX 90 fps in the reported Cyberpunk 2077 RT Ultra test; at 4K, the reported results were 60 fps and 59 fps, respectively. Those are results for the review units under the stated review conditions, not Stealth A18 measurements or a promise for every RTX 5090 laptop. They also show why resolution and test conditions belong beside any performance figure. GamesRadar Razer Blade 18 review
GamesRadar describes the Blade as the more portable alternative among the 18-inch machines it compared. That is a reviewer’s comparison, not proof that it is lighter than every Stealth configuration. The available evidence does not establish a directly comparable independent Stealth A18 RTX 5090 benchmark, so it cannot support a claim that the Stealth is faster or slower than these rivals.

Check portability, price, and the exact SKU before choosing
Portability and cooling
Do not translate MSI’s “slim” positioning or either maker’s cooling-system description into a portability or thermal verdict. Compare exact weight, dimensions, power adapter, and noise measurements for the configurations you are considering. The cited specifications do not establish the Stealth’s exact weight for this RTX 5090 US SKU, nor do they provide a like-for-like thermal or acoustic test against the SCAR 18.
Price and availability
There is no stable current street price or retail-stock figure established here for these configurations. Check the seller’s live listing and confirm its full model number, display, GPU, memory, and storage; a price attached to a different regional SKU is not a reliable comparison.

Alienware as another option
The Alienware 18 Area-51 is another reviewed RTX 5090 laptop, but the available review coverage frames trade-offs across display, keyboard, price, and gaming away from power rather than establishing a directly comparable Stealth benchmark. Use it as another model to investigate, not as evidence for a performance ranking. GamesRadar Alienware 18 Area-51 review

A practical comparison checklist
- Match the SKU and region. Write down each complete model number and confirm the configuration on the manufacturer or retailer page.
- Compare GPU power specifications. Note the stated maximum graphics power or TGP, whether Dynamic Boost is included, and any vendor caveat about scenario-dependent power.
- Match the display to your use. Compare resolution, refresh rate, Mini LED or other panel type, and stated HDR claims rather than treating “4K” or “Mini LED” as a complete display comparison.
- Check the rest of the system. Compare the actual processor, memory capacity and speed, SSD capacity, and upgrade options for your workload.
- Use benchmarks only when conditions align. Compare the same game, resolution, settings, power mode, and test method. Treat results from another laptop as that review unit’s results.
- Verify ownership costs and portability. Check current price, stock, dimensions, weight, adapter, and noise for the exact configuration before deciding.
