Which Crosshair 16 HX version is the E14WFK?
The suffix distinguishes graphics configurations in MSI’s E14W family matrix. The E14WFK is the RTX 5060 version; the E14WGK is listed with an RTX 5070, and the E14WEK with an RTX 5050. MSI lists 8 GB GDDR7 for these GPU options. The family matrix is useful for identifying the GPU tier, but it does not establish the CPU, RAM, SSD, keyboard layout, warranty, or price of every retail SKU.

What do independent reviews say?
Tom’s Guide published its review on July 17, 2026, using a higher-tier E14W configuration with a Core i7-14650HX, RTX 5070, 16 GB RAM, and a 1 TB SSD. The reviewer praised its performance, bright and vivid 240 Hz display, effective cooling, and range of ports, while noting loud fans. This is useful evidence about the family and that review unit, but it is not a review benchmark of the RTX 5060 E14WFK.

On that RTX 5070 unit, Tom’s Guide measured 447 nits brightness, 157.5% sRGB coverage, 111.6% DCI-P3 coverage, and Delta-E 0.2. These are the publication’s lab results for its sample, not manufacturer-wide panel guarantees. In its game tests at the stated high or maximum settings, the same unit reached 228 fps in Counter-Strike 2, 55 fps in Cyberpunk 2077, 102 fps in Forza Horizon 5, and 143 fps in F1 25. Results depend on the game, settings, sample, and test conditions; they should not be attributed to the E14WFK.

Tom’s Guide also recorded 2 hours 44 minutes in a UL Procyon video-loop battery test, with screen brightness set to 150 nits and keyboard RGB off. That is a specific test result for the RTX 5070 review unit, not a prediction of battery life in gaming or ordinary use.

Its listed concerns include the 16 GB memory configuration, basic 720p webcam, 2.3 kg weight, and the possibility that performance settings need adjustment.

How loud are the fans, and how long does the battery last?
Tom’s Guide found cooling effective on its RTX 5070 review unit but described the fans as very loud. Its reviewer suggested a headset for gaming. The result does not quantify noise in decibels or establish how loud every E14WFK behaves under every workload, but fan noise is worth weighing if you play in a quiet room or use the laptop near other people.

Can you upgrade the RAM and SSD?
MSI lists two DDR5-5600 memory slots with a maximum capacity of 96 GB for the family. Its storage specification lists one M.2 PCIe Gen4 slot and one M.2 PCIe Gen5-compatible slot. The Hong Kong E14WFK-039HK configuration comes with a single 16 GB memory module and one 1 TB Gen4 SSD, leaving a second memory slot and the additional M.2 interface as potential expansion paths on that SKU.
Before buying an upgrade, verify the exact laptop’s slot availability, memory type, and SSD physical and interface requirements. MSI’s family specification does not guarantee that every regional unit ships with the same installed parts or configuration.
Is the E14WFK worth buying?
It may suit someone who wants a high-refresh QHD+ screen, an RTX 5060, and upgrade headroom in a gaming laptop, and who mainly uses it plugged in. It is a less obvious fit if you prioritize quiet operation, long unplugged sessions, low weight, or a stronger webcam. Notebookcheck lists the E14WFK at 2.3 kg, and its review collection flags a basic 720p camera.

The available sources do not provide a controlled, same-method comparison that establishes a numerical performance gap between these configurations. A 240 Hz panel also does not mean demanding games will reach 240 fps: results vary substantially with game and settings, as the RTX 5070 review’s own 55 fps in Cyberpunk 2077 and 228 fps in Counter-Strike 2 illustrate.
