Choose the Razr Fold for more display area
Motorola specifies an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO inner display and a 6.6-inch external display. That makes the Razr Fold the more promising option on paper if your priority is a large unfolded workspace or a larger screen while the phone is closed. Motorola also advertises peak brightness of 6,200 nits; treat that as a vendor-published peak figure, not as a directly comparable everyday brightness test.

Samsung specifies a 7.6-inch main display and emphasizes its 4:3 unfolded shape. Samsung says rotating the phone gives a 3:4 orientation suited to reading and browsing. The Razr Fold’s larger diagonal does not by itself establish which screen will feel better: screen shape can affect app layout, reading, and video viewing, so the better fit depends on what you do most.

The cover screens also differ substantially in stated size: 6.6 inches on Motorola’s phone and 5.5 inches on Samsung’s. If you expect to handle many tasks without unfolding the device, that difference is a relevant specification, though it does not establish how comfortable either screen is in actual use.
Battery capacity and charging: what the specifications can tell you
Motorola lists a 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, 80 W wired charging, and 50 W wireless charging. Samsung lists a 4,800 mAh battery for the Fold8 and claims more than 26 hours of video playback. Those figures are not a matched battery-life comparison: capacity and a manufacturer’s video-playback claim measure different things, and actual runtime depends on use. The published figures therefore do not prove which phone lasts longer in everyday use.

The charging specifications favor Motorola on paper. The cited Samsung Fold8 source does not state a charging speed, so there is not enough information here to compare charging rates or charge times. Do not substitute charging figures from the Fold7; they are not Fold8 specifications.

Samsung lists the Galaxy Z Fold8 at 201 g. The Motorola official launch and support specifications cited here do not provide a verified Razr Fold weight, so they do not establish which phone is lighter. Check the current official specification for the exact market and model before choosing based on weight.

Stylus support and software updates
Check the moto pen ultra bundle in your country
Motorola documents Razr Fold support for moto pen ultra, including pressure sensitivity, palm rejection, and annotation. However, Motorola’s launch announcement says the pen is sold separately, while its U.K. support specification lists it in the box. Confirm the package contents for your exact country and seller before treating the pen as an included accessory. The Samsung source cited here does not establish whether the standard Fold8 supports a stylus, so it is not enough to conclude that Samsung lacks stylus support.
Verify Motorola’s support term for the exact regional model
Motorola’s launch announcement says the Razr Fold can receive up to seven OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates, subject to market and model caveats. Its U.K. support specification instead lists security updates until March 2030 and a four-year period. Because the official statements differ, do not assume that every regional Razr Fold receives seven years of updates; confirm the applicable term for the exact model you plan to buy. The Samsung source cited here does not establish a comparable Fold8 support period.

Cameras and durability: no verified head-to-head winner
Camera specifications are not camera-test results
Motorola describes a triple rear-camera system with a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with 3× optical zoom, and a 50 MP ultrawide camera. Its launch announcement also reports a DXOMARK Gold Label and a North America ranking, attributing those claims to a March 2026 report. Motorola says the Razr Fold achieved “over 75% better drop performance” in internal testing against previous-generation devices. Its footnote frames the comparison as Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 versus first-generation Gorilla Glass Ceramic and says actual performance may vary.
