To play Hilo at Moonspin, you look at the card shown on screen, set your bet, and choose whether the next card will be higher or the same, or lower or the same. Moonspin’s Hilo page says the next card is revealed after you make that choice, and your payout is calculated from your bet and the multiplier attached to the option you picked.
How a Hilo round works, step by step
- Open the Hilo game on Moonspin. Use the game page on Moonspin’s site and confirm which coin balance is active before you bet. Coin modes are covered in a later section.
- Set your bet. Moonspin’s page lists a minimum bet of 10 Gold Coins. Use the Min and Max controls, or the buttons that halve or double the amount, to adjust it. These controls work within your available balance.
- Read the current card. The round starts with one visible card. Everything you choose is measured against that card.
- Compare the two options. The interface offers “Higher or Same” and “Lower or Same.” Each option shows a probability of winning and a multiplier before you commit.
- Pick one option. Moonspin reveals the next card after your selection.
- Check the result. Moonspin’s page says the multiplier is used with your initial bet to determine the payout, so the return depends on the option you selected.
How cards are ranked and what “same” means
Moonspin’s instructions rank the cards with Ace lowest and King highest. The page says the game typically uses a standard 52-card deck, so the order runs from low to high as follows:
- Ace (lowest)
- 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
- Jack, Queen, King (highest)
The option labels explicitly include “same,” so you should not read the choices as simply “higher” or “lower.” If the current card is a 7, “Higher or Same” covers 7 through King, and “Lower or Same” covers Ace through 7. The labels show that a matching rank falls inside the option you pick. The reviewed material does not spell out tie handling beyond those labels, so check the wording on the live page before you bet, especially if you are playing for the first time.
Reading the probability and the multiplier
The two figures on each option are shown by Moonspin, and they answer different questions:

- Probability is the chance of winning that Moonspin displays for the selected option.
- Multiplier is the factor applied to your bet to calculate the payout if you win.
Compare the two options side by side rather than looking at one number in isolation. A higher displayed probability paired with a lower multiplier means a smaller payout for a more likely win; a lower probability with a higher multiplier means the reverse. Moonspin’s page does not publish the formula that links the two numbers, so treat the displays as the platform’s information for that round, not as a forecast of the next card. No choice is guaranteed to win, and no pattern in earlier cards changes the displayed figures for the next one.
Gold Coins, Sweep Coins, and which mode applies
Moonspin’s terms separate two modes. Standard Play uses Gold Coins. Promotional Play uses Sweep Coins, which are sweepstakes entries that can be redeemed for prizes subject to the rules. Gold Coins are not cash, and Sweep Coins are not something you buy directly. The table below summarizes the differences based on Moonspin US’s terms (last updated October 23, 2025) and its Sweepstakes Rules (last updated March 2, 2026).

What the 95% RTP figure means
Moonspin’s Games Info page lists Hilo with an RTP (%) value of 95 and categorizes the game as an Original. The Games Info listing does not state the year it was published, so no date should be attached to the figure. The sources reviewed do not include an independent verification of this number or a methodology explaining how it was calculated.

RTP, or return to player, describes an expected long-run average across a very large number of rounds. It does not mean that a player who places a few bets will receive 95% of their stake back in a session. Treat the 95 as Moonspin’s published listing for the game.

Moonspin’s Hilo page states: “The outcome of each round is totally random and independent of previous results.” Past rounds do not change the odds of the next one, and Hilo is not a reliable way to make money.
