The Hero Cape is the easiest announced route for returning players: use the same Microsoft account that played Minecraft Dungeons and log into Minecraft Dungeons II before December 31, 2026. Other capes have separate requirements: the Soul Cape comes with the Deluxe Edition, the Twisted Cape was a preorder bonus, and the limited-time Aurora Cape is for Minecraft—not Dungeons II.
How the cape routes compare
| Cape | How to get it | Where it unlocks | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hero Cape | Play the original Minecraft Dungeons, then log into Minecraft Dungeons II with the same Microsoft account. Game Pass or Steam play counts; the official FAQ also says joining a friend’s co-op session can qualify without owning either game. | Dungeons II; then Java Edition and/or Bedrock Edition after signing in with the same account | Meet the Dungeons II login deadline of December 31, 2026 |
| Twisted Cape | Preorder Minecraft Dungeons II during the preorder offer | Dungeons II; then Java Edition and/or Bedrock Edition with the same Microsoft account | The official guide says it is no longer available through purchase |
| Soul Cape | Get the Deluxe Edition | Dungeons II | Included with Deluxe Edition |
| Corrupted Creeper Cape | Watch for future online or in-person events and promotions | Dungeons II | No particular event or date announced |
| Special Cape | No acquisition method announced | Not stated in the official guide | Details undisclosed |
| Aurora Cape | Watch a rewards-enabled Dungeons II livestream for at least 3 minutes on TikTok or 15 minutes on Twitch, then redeem the code at minecraft.net/redeem | Minecraft, not Dungeons II | September 29, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific through October 14, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific |
The details and limits above are listed in the official Minecraft Dungeons II capes and promotions guide and its official FAQ.
How to get the Hero Cape
- Sign in to the Microsoft account associated with your original Minecraft Dungeons play history. Prior play through Game Pass or Steam counts, according to the official FAQ.
- Launch Minecraft Dungeons II while signed in to that same account before December 31, 2026. You do not need to replay the original game if you already played it on the qualifying account.
- Once the Hero Cape entitlement appears in Dungeons II, sign in to Java Edition and/or Bedrock Edition with the same Microsoft account to unlock it there too.
The official FAQ says you do not have to own both games: joining a friend’s co-op session can qualify. If you have played the original already, keep the account consistent when opening Dungeons II; using a different Microsoft account can prevent the qualifying play history from matching.

The Twisted Cape was included as a Minecraft Dungeons II preorder cosmetic. The preorder offer has ended, and the official guide says the cape is no longer available through purchase. Buying the game now does not qualify you for that expired offer.

Can you get the Aurora Cape from a Dungeons II stream?
Yes, during the promotion window, but the reward is a Minecraft cape rather than a Dungeons II cosmetic. The official guide states: “The cape is only available in Minecraft – NOT Minecraft Dungeons II.” Watch a rewards-enabled Dungeons II livestream for at least 3 minutes on TikTok or 15 minutes on Twitch. Viewing time only counts while the stream is live; redeem the resulting code at minecraft.net/redeem. The offer ends October 14, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific.
