Mike Tomlin says he has spent more than 12 years building a city in Minecraft Creative Mode. The longtime project is now getting a public tour: its first episode, “EP 1: ROOFTOPS, PENTHOUSES, AND URBAN LIVING,” was uploaded to YouTube on September 30, 2026.
What Mike Tomlin’s Minecraft city looks like
The first episode moves through a detailed urban build rather than attempting to show the entire city. The tour features an early hotel with a boutique spa and conference room, a basement speakeasy, baseball and soccer stadiums, and high-rise apartments topped with penthouses. CBS Sports’ report describes furnished bedrooms, aquariums, fireplaces, artwork, and businesses around the buildings.
Tomlin discusses choices such as lighting, apartment layouts, balconies, elevators, and landscaping. He also describes adding penthouses to buildings he had already made, giving the city a sense of ongoing development. The episode’s focus on rooftops and urban living is a slice of the larger project, not evidence that the full world has been revealed.

Tomlin said the project had been going for more than 12 years in the reveal video, as quoted in CBS Sports’ October 1, 2026 report. He said he became interested in Minecraft after watching his children play when they were in middle school. Building appealed to him, as did architecture; reporting identifies the project as a Creative Mode city built on PlayStation, without specifying the console generation or Minecraft edition.

Tomlin described the pastime as personal and relaxing: “More than anything, it was therapeutic for me. Some mindless entertainment.” That is his account of what the project means to him, not a general claim about Minecraft or mental health.
Where to watch the first tour
The first episode is available on YouTube under the title “EP 1: ROOFTOPS, PENTHOUSES, AND URBAN LIVING.” Tomlin announced the reveal on September 30, 2026, and the first upload appeared that day. Kotaku reported on the tour and public response on October 2, while CBS Sports covered the reveal on October 1.
