Microsoft’s June 30, 2016 Bing announcement introduced three lightweight ways to interact with the search homepage: the Bing Homepage Quiz, the Weekly Trends Quiz, and polls. The announcement is historical, so some of its interface details—especially the graduation-cap icon and the Weekly Trends schedule—should not be treated as current Bing behavior.
The daily homepage quiz is still documented by Microsoft, but it is now accessed through the area beneath the search box or through the homepage image’s headline and credit information. Bing Rewards, another quiz-related feature mentioned in the announcement, has also been replaced by Microsoft Rewards.
What Microsoft announced in 2016
The Microsoft Bing Blog post, published on June 30, 2016, was titled Learn, earn, and have fun with three new experiences on Bing. It described:
- Bing Homepage Quiz — trivia related to the daily Bing homepage image.
- Weekly Trends Quiz — questions based on stories featured in Bing’s Popular Now section.
- Polls — quick opinion-based interactions on the homepage.
The post also discussed Bing Rewards quizzes, which were separate from the homepage quiz and were intended to combine trivia with the Rewards program.

How the Bing Homepage Quiz worked in the original announcement
In the 2016 version, Bing replaced the homepage’s interactive “hotspots” with trivia. Visitors hovered over a graduation-cap icon to reveal a question about the day’s image. The quiz had three questions. After finishing, users could see and share their score and open quizzes from previous days.
Microsoft reported that engagement with the cap icon increased by more than 65 percent compared with the former hotspots.
The graduation-cap description belongs to that 2016 interface. It is not the current documented way to open the Bing homepage quiz.

How to find the current daily Bing homepage quiz
Microsoft’s current support instructions use the homepage image and the area beneath the search box rather than a named graduation-cap control.

- Open Bing.com.
- Move the pointer around the area under the search box. This can reveal the daily quiz or related homepage controls.
- Alternatively, move the pointer over the image headline in the lower-right corner.
- Click the image headline or the image’s credit information to open the quiz and related details.
If the quiz does not appear, the feature may not be available in your country or region, or the homepage layout may differ from Microsoft’s documentation. Bing’s homepage controls can also include:
- Download today’s image
- < and > controls for earlier or later homepage images
- Show menu bar
- Show news and interests
- Show homepage image
The previous and next controls provide access to the last seven days of homepage images. They are image-history controls, not necessarily a guarantee that every earlier quiz remains available.
What was the Weekly Trends Quiz?
The 2016 announcement described the Weekly Trends Quiz as a feature in the Popular Now carousel at the bottom of the Bing homepage. It was traditionally published on Fridays and tested users on the week’s Popular Now stories.

Microsoft’s current Bing support documentation describes the daily homepage quiz but does not establish that the Weekly Trends Quiz still has the same location, Friday schedule, or seven-question format. Therefore, those details should be understood as historical specifications from the 2016 announcement—not as guaranteed current behavior.
Bing Rewards quizzes and the move to Microsoft Rewards
The announcement also referred to Bing Rewards quizzes. At the time, these were three-question activities offered twice a week and could cover seasonal subjects, history, holidays, and pop culture.
The program later became Microsoft Rewards. For current quizzes and daily activities, Microsoft directs users to the Microsoft Rewards dashboard rather than to an old Bing Rewards page.
To check the current activities:
- Open the Microsoft Rewards dashboard.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your Rewards balance.
- Review the available daily set, quizzes, and other activities.
- Complete the daily set and look for the green checkmark confirming completion.
Available activities, points, and redemption choices vary by market. A quiz or daily activity shown in Microsoft’s documentation may therefore be absent from a particular account or region.

Why a Bing quiz or Rewards completion may be missing

Before repeating an activity, verify the account, disable any VPN that changes your apparent location, and use the device’s normal time-zone settings. Repeating an activity is not a reliable way to recover credit if Microsoft did not recognize it as eligible.

The graduation-cap icon, the Friday Weekly Trends schedule, and the seven-question Weekly Trends format describe the 2016 experience. For current points and quizzes, use Microsoft Rewards, keep the correct account signed in, and remember that regional availability and eligibility can change.

Does Bing still use the graduation-cap icon for the quiz?
The graduation-cap icon was part of the 2016 Bing Homepage Quiz interface. Microsoft’s current support instructions instead direct users to the area under the search box or to the image headline and credit information.
Is the Weekly Trends Quiz still published every Friday with seven questions?
That was Microsoft’s description in its June 2016 announcement. Current Bing support documentation does not guarantee that the Weekly Trends Quiz still exists with that schedule, location, or question count.
What replaced Bing Rewards?
Bing Rewards transitioned to Microsoft Rewards. Current quizzes and daily activities are available through the Microsoft Rewards dashboard, subject to account, market, and program eligibility.
