Microsoft has said it will reduce unnecessary Copilot entry points in some Windows apps and refocus Windows 11 on speed and stability. That is a stated change in direction, not proof that Windows 11 has been fixed or that AI features have been removed. The separate claim that Microsoft presented “300 AI buzzwords” at a major event is not supported by the available reporting.
What Microsoft said it would change in Windows 11
On March 23, 2026, Windows Central reported that Microsoft planned to reduce Copilot and other AI experiences across system apps and interfaces. The company named Snipping Tool, Photos, Widgets, and Notepad as starting points—not as a list of every place AI would be removed.
Microsoft EVP of Windows & Devices Pavan Davuluri described the approach as making Copilot integrations more intentional and focusing on experiences that are useful and well-crafted. He said Microsoft was “reducing unnecessary Copilot entry points,” beginning with those apps. Windows Central’s report describes a commitment to reduce entry points; it does not say Microsoft would remove Copilot from Windows altogether.
Does that mean Windows 11 has been fixed?
No verified result in the cited coverage shows that Windows 11’s speed, stability, or reliability improved across users’ PCs. TechSpot reported that Microsoft executives had promised to refocus Windows 11 on speed and stability, while Windows Central separately reported a March 26 effort to improve Windows apps involving Windows quality and app-development staff, including Scott Hanselman, Clint Rutkas, and Rudy Huyn.

These reports establish that Microsoft described quality work and a narrower approach to AI integrations. They do not provide before-and-after measurements or establish that the work resolved Windows 11 problems. A useful way to judge the response is to look for changes that have shipped, which Copilot entry points remain or disappear, and measurable quality outcomes—not just a change in stated priorities. Windows Central’s report on the app effort covers the initiative, not a verified system-wide fix.
What “Microslop” means—and what happened in the Copilot Discord
“Microslop” is a derisive nickname used in criticism of Microsoft’s AI-heavy direction. TechSpot reported that the term was filtered in Microsoft’s Copilot Discord. A Microsoft spokesperson told the publication that spammers were targeting the channel with harmful content unrelated to Copilot, and said moderators had applied temporary filters for select terms while developing stronger safeguards. That is the company’s reported explanation for Discord moderation; it is not evidence that Microsoft had formally banned criticism across its products or services. TechSpot’s account describes the filter episode and Microsoft’s response.

In a later status check published September 24, 2026, Windows Latest reported that “Microslop” messages could again be found in the Copilot Discord and that the word no longer appeared to be blocked. The publication said Microsoft had not publicly announced lifting the filter, so this is an observation of the server rather than a company announcement. Windows Latest’s report gives that later status.

Was there really an event with “300 AI buzzwords”?
The available reporting does not establish that Microsoft presented 300 AI buzzwords at a major event. The related figure found in 2024 materials is different: Intel described more than 300 AI-accelerated features in software solutions associated with its AI PC Acceleration Program. Those features covered areas such as collaboration, productivity, content creation, and accessibility; they were not a count of buzzwords, nor evidence of a Microsoft event presentation.

Microsoft Community Hub material from 2024 also discussed more than 300 AI-accelerated features in solutions from multiple vendors in the Intel software ecosystem. Neither figure substantiates the event claim. Without an identifiable event report, transcript, or independently checkable count, “300 AI buzzwords” should not be repeated as fact. The distinction matters: a count of software features is not a count of language used in a presentation.

What to take from Microsoft’s response
- There is a reported plan to trim certain Copilot entry points. Snipping Tool, Photos, Widgets, and Notepad were named as initial examples.
- The plan is not a completed Windows quality fix. The cited reports describe commitments and organizational efforts, not demonstrated improvements across PCs.
- The Discord filter and the Windows integration plan are separate issues. Microsoft attributed temporary term filters to spam moderation; a later outlet observed that the word appeared to be unblocked.
- The “300” claim is unverified in the form stated. The related 2024 Intel ecosystem figure counts AI-accelerated features, not buzzwords at a Microsoft event.
