Yes. Microsoft Forms can create scored quizzes for assessments: you can add questions, mark correct answers, assign points, provide feedback, and review or export results. Start with New Quiz rather than a standard form when you need scoring.
What Microsoft Forms can do for assessments
A quiz in Microsoft Forms supports scored questions, answer feedback, and response review. You can choose question types such as Choice, Text, Rating, Date, Ranking, Likert, File upload, and Net Promoter Score. Scoring options depend on the question type, so preview the quiz and check how its questions behave before sharing it. Microsoft’s quiz creation guide describes manual creation and Copilot-assisted drafting.
For questions with correct answers, identify the right answer and set its point value. You can add messages tied to answers, and quiz settings include options for automatic results display, practice mode, and answer explanations. Decide whether learners should see results or explanations immediately, based on how the assessment will be used. Microsoft’s Forms settings guide covers these controls.
How to create and share a scored quiz
- Sign in to Microsoft Forms and select New Quiz.
- Add questions suited to the assessment. For applicable question types, mark the correct answer and assign points.
- Add answer-specific feedback or explanations if useful, then set quiz and response options, including whether results appear automatically.
- If learners need different question paths, add the questions first, then configure sections or branching.
- Preview the quiz on computer and mobile, check scoring and navigation, and share it with the intended audience.
- After responses arrive, review submissions, grade questions needing manual review, post scores when ready, and export results to Excel if you need further analysis.
Microsoft also documents Copilot-assisted quiz drafting, but it is optional: you can create a quiz manually. Microsoft says using Copilot in Forms requires a Microsoft 365 account and a Copilot license. See Microsoft’s quiz creation guidance.

When branching helps—and what it cannot do
Branching can adapt a formative assessment to a learner’s answer, for example by directing someone to a follow-up practice question. Microsoft describes branching as a way to create formative assessments with in-quiz opportunities to practice skills. A branch can lead to a later question or the end of the quiz; it cannot go back to an earlier question. Add questions before setting up branches, then preview each route. Microsoft’s branching guide.
How to review and share results
After respondents submit the quiz, Forms lets authors inspect summary and individual responses, award points and feedback, post scores, and export response data to Excel. If you share a response-summary link, check who can access it before distributing it; a summary link can expose response summaries to its recipients. Microsoft’s results guide.

Check account and organization settings
Microsoft’s help documentation does not establish a complete feature-availability matrix across plans, account types, regions, or organization policies. If a control is unavailable or your deployment has specific requirements, verify current Microsoft 365 licensing and tenant settings with your organization. Copilot drafting specifically requires a Microsoft 365 account and Copilot license according to Microsoft’s quiz creation guidance.
