Microlink offers a hosted browser-rendering API that turns a URL into a screenshot image. Microlink reports a screenshot P95 latency of 2.8 seconds, but that is a vendor-published figure, not an independently reproduced benchmark. Its API exposes controls for capture area, format, and compression; whether the result is suitable depends on the pages and output settings you use.
What Microlink’s screenshot API returns
Send a URL with the screenshot parameter enabled and Microlink returns screenshot data under data.screenshot. Its documented metadata includes an asset URL, width, height, image type, and file size. The screenshot reference describes the option as disabled by default and configurable as a boolean or object: Microlink screenshot parameter reference.
Microlink’s guide describes a hosted flow: the service opens the page in a headless browser, renders it, captures the current viewport, stores the image on its CDN, and returns asset metadata. The default response is JSON; the guide also documents direct image delivery using embed: 'screenshot.url': Microlink screenshot guide.
How fast is it?
On its API product page, accessed October 3, 2026, Microlink lists a screenshot P95 of 2.8 seconds and a metadata P95 of 2.0 seconds. It also advertises sub-second cached responses and cold starts under three seconds on its screenshot product page. These are Microlink’s claims; the cited pages do not establish the test geography, sample size, page mix, cache-hit ratio, or measurement window. They should not be treated as a prediction for a particular workload or a like-for-like comparison with another provider.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Microlink also says paid plans have a 99.9% uptime SLA. That is a service commitment stated by the vendor, not a measurement of capture success on any particular website. See the Microlink API and plans page and Microlink screenshot product page.
Ways Microlink says to reduce latency or output size
- For screenshot-only calls, set
meta: falseto skip metadata extraction. Microlink’s guide calls this usually the largest speed improvement for that use case. - Use JPEG compression and a lower device scale factor when smaller files matter more than maximum pixel detail. These are documented tuning options, not guaranteed latency improvements.
- Microlink describes its speed-priority option as a tradeoff between speed, size, and fidelity. Test it against the pages and visual detail your application needs.
Microlink discusses these approaches in its speed and file-size optimization guide.

Image controls and what they do—and do not—tell you
The screenshot API documents viewport capture and options for full-page screenshots, targeting an element, image type, JPEG quality, and transparent backgrounds. Those controls let you shape the output; their availability alone does not establish that a capture will look correct on every dynamic or heavily scripted site.
In its optimization example, Microlink uses type: 'jpeg', quality: 60, and viewport.deviceScaleFactor: 1. The guide describes quality 60 as more compressed than the default quality of 80, and a scale factor of 1 as one device pixel per CSS pixel. Check the returned size metadata, including size_pretty where available, and visually inspect representative outputs before choosing settings. The example is a tuning starting point, not evidence of a particular visual result.

Plans, quotas, and operational limits
Microlink’s API page, accessed October 3, 2026, lists these plan figures. Commercial terms can change, so confirm them on the current API plans page before budgeting.
| Plan | Published price | Published allowance | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 per month | 25 requests per day | Microlink’s listed allowance; the paid-plan SLA is not stated to apply to Free. |
| Pro | $49 per month | 46,000 requests per month | Microlink lists a 99.9% uptime SLA for paid plans. |
The product page says quota headers expose the limit, remaining requests, and reset information; it also says over-quota requests return HTTP 429 with an ERATE code. Microlink’s guide describes a free usage path without an API key. Check the live documentation and response headers before building quota handling around those details, since they may change.

How to evaluate Microlink for your workload
The published options and plans may suit prototyping or production jobs that fit the stated quota and need managed browser rendering. The available evidence does not establish real-world latency for your traffic or image fidelity on your target sites. A practical evaluation should use your own representative pages and traffic pattern.
- Choose representative URLs. Include pages with the dynamic content, consent overlays, lazy-loaded images, and layouts that matter to your application.
- Decide what must appear. Test viewport, full-page, or element-targeted capture as appropriate. Confirm that the captured region includes the content you need.
- Compare output settings. Inspect image type, quality, scale factor, transparency, dimensions, and file size. Select a setting based on acceptable visual detail and storage or bandwidth constraints.
- Measure latency consistently. Separate cached and uncached requests if relevant, and use the same geography, concurrency, page set, and settings when comparing runs or providers. Microlink’s published P95 is not a substitute for this workload-specific check.
- Plan quota handling. Track remaining quota and reset information if exposed, and handle HTTP 429 responses rather than assuming every request will be accepted.
- Check service terms. Confirm current limits and the scope of any SLA on the plan you intend to use.
