Maverick Washington LLC has notified state officials that eight Washington casinos could close on November 30, 2026, affecting 850 workers, according to MyNorthwest. The notices are conditional: Maverick says a new owner or operator could prevent a closure or delay it. The broader figure of more than 1,200 positions combines these notices with separate Tukwila notices and earlier summer layoff rounds; it is not a count of confirmed future job losses.
Which Washington casinos are named in the November notices?
The eight properties in the potential November 30, 2026 closure notices are:
- Great American Casino in Everett
- Chip’s Casino, Macau Casino, and Palace Casino in Lakewood
- All Star Casino in Silverdale
- Casino Caribbean in Yakima
- Crazy Moose Casino in Pasco
- Coyote Bobs Casino in Kennewick
MyNorthwest reported 850 affected workers for these eight notices. The Washington WARN filing tracker’s site-level figures also add up to 850; it reproduces Employment Security Department records dated September 28. Because the underlying individual letters were not directly reviewed, the site-level breakdown should be understood as reported by the tracker and local coverage. The tracker links to the state’s public WARN search.
What does “over 1,200 jobs at risk” include?
The total is an aggregation of three different announcement cohorts, with different effective dates and circumstances:

Adding the three reported figures gives 1,276 positions affected across separate announcements. That arithmetic explains the “over 1,200” framing, but it does not mean 1,276 workers are confirmed to lose their jobs in a future shutdown. The eight November notices describe potential closures, the Tukwila notices are separate, and the 188 positions were reported in summer layoff rounds. The 238 Tukwila figure and site counts are reproduced by the Washington WARN filing tracker; the summer-round total was reported by KIRO/MyNorthwest.
Could a new owner keep a casino open?
Yes. The notices leave open the possibility that a transaction will change the outcome. MyNorthwest quoted Maverick Washington LLC Human Resources Director Christine Wisniewski saying: “If the site is transitioned to a new owner/operator, the above-referenced closure may not occur, or alternatively, the closure could be delayed. We will provide updated information to you in the event that occurs.”

That language makes the November 30 date a potential closure date, not confirmation that all eight properties will shut down. At the time of the reports, no buyer or replacement operator had been identified for the eight named sites. A possible transition is not a confirmed sale, and the notices do not say that any closure has been cancelled.

KIRO/MyNorthwest reported that Maverick Gaming filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Texas in July 2025 after a 2024 debt restructuring. The report said the bankruptcy filing listed assets and liabilities in the $100 million to $500 million range. It also reported that five locations had closed since April 2026 as of October 1, 2026. These are reported developments, distinct from the conditional notices for the eight properties.

A 2025 bankruptcy declaration described Maverick’s portfolio at that time as 26 operating properties, approximately 2,500 slot machines, 320 table games, 1,200 hotel rooms, and 30 restaurants. Those figures are a historical snapshot, not a current count after later closures and transitions.
Yogonet, citing The News Tribune, quoted Teamsters Local 117 Secretary-Treasurer Paul Dascher saying that Maverick operations had changed hands during the process and several other facilities would either close or change hands in coming months. Dascher also said the union was working to ensure members were treated fairly. This is union context; it does not establish a buyer or outcome for any particular casino.

What workers and communities can watch next
The decisive updates are whether a new owner or operator is identified for any property, whether Maverick changes or withdraws a notice, and whether a potential closure proceeds on the stated date. The state’s WARN search provides public notice records, while developments in the bankruptcy proceeding may affect ownership and operations. Until those updates establish a final outcome, the eight November sites should be described as facing potential closure, not as confirmed shutdowns.
