Start by comparing your PC with Masters of Albion’s current Steam requirements, then identify whether you’re dealing with low frame rates, stuttering, a crash, or slow loading. The official material confirms ongoing performance work and a past fix for one specific crash, but it does not establish one current fix for every symptom. Meeting minimum requirements also does not guarantee stable performance.
Check whether your PC meets the Steam requirements
Steam lists these system requirements for Masters of Albion. Compare your processor, graphics card, memory, operating system, and storage with the relevant tier; the minimum is a baseline, not a promise of smooth or stable play.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10/11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 | Intel Core i5-11600 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA RTX 2060 / GTX 1660 Super or AMD RX 5600 XT | NVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD RX 6600 |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
| Storage | 20 GB available space | 20 GB available space; SSD recommended |
Steam cautions that performance may vary on lower-end systems and that it cannot guarantee a stable experience below minimum requirements. A 22cans developer also acknowledged that the original requirements were too low to consistently deliver a stable 30 fps experience, which prompted a revision (Steam Community requirements discussion, 13 April 2026).
Identify which performance problem you have
Stuttering, persistently low frame rates, crashes, and long load times are different symptoms. The official sources do not establish that they share a cause, so note what happens rather than applying a fix for a different problem.

- Low frame rate: The game runs slowly for an extended period, rather than pausing briefly.
- Stuttering: Play briefly hitches or pauses, whether in one scene or across the game.
- Crash: The game closes or stops responding. Note whether this happens during startup, play, or after a particular action.
- Long load time: Loading between launch, saves, or scenes takes unusually long. Record which loading step is affected.
For any symptom, check whether it began after a game update, whether it happens consistently, and whether it is limited to a particular scene. These are useful diagnostic questions, not confirmed causes.
What official performance updates have changed
A specific graphics-settings crash was fixed
Update 1.2 fixed a crash that could occur after changing graphics quality settings (22cans’ Update 1.2 notes). This documents a fix for that particular bug; it does not mean changing graphics settings is generally unsafe or that the same crash affects the current version.

A rendering-system overhaul was reported to improve performance
In the New Beginnings update announcement, 22cans said it moved Masters of Albion to a different rendering system and rebuilt or converted the game’s assets. The studio reported that its tests delivered “up to double the frame rate,” along with improved stability and responsiveness, while noting that gains vary with hardware, resolution, and graphics settings (22cans’ New Beginnings announcement). This is a developer-reported test result, not an independent benchmark or a guarantee for an individual PC.
Optimization has been an acknowledged work in progress
22cans’ known-issues post described performance and stability as priorities, citing the challenge of combining close-up detail with large-scale simulation (22cans’ known-issues post). Performance can change between game builds, so check the latest official patch notes for changes relevant to your version.

Consider storage if loading is the main issue
Steam recommends an SSD. If the game is installed on a hard disk and loading is the main complaint, the drive type is worth checking. That recommendation does not establish that an SSD will resolve a particular delay, and it is not a fix for CPU or GPU bottlenecks, crashes, or every kind of stutter. Steam does not specify an SSD interface, capacity, or model.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Prepare useful details before seeking help
Record the exact symptom, when and where it occurs, your CPU and GPU, installed RAM, drive type, and the game version. Include whether the problem started after an update and whether it happens every time. This is sensible reporting practice, not a symptom-specific checklist issued by 22cans. Use the game’s official Steam channels to look for current updates or report the issue.
