“Mandala maker” can mean several different tools, not one product. For drawing on an iPad or iPhone, Mandala Maker: symmetry doodle and Make it Mandala are separate apps. For a browser-based workflow that also supports animation, Mandalize is another option. Choose based on the device you want to use and the file you need at the end.
How does a mandala maker create symmetrical designs?
These tools use radial symmetry: you draw or place an element in one part of the canvas, and the editor repeats it around a center point. The repeated marks build a circular pattern without requiring you to draw every segment by hand. Controls differ by product, so “symmetry drawing” does not imply the same brushes, layers, animation features or export formats in every app.

Mandala Maker: symmetry doodle is the option whose listing specifically documents layers, brushes, stickers, custom images and image export. The US App Store listing names Damien Bell as developer and describes the app as free with in-app purchases. It also showed a 4.6 rating from 9.5K ratings when accessed on October 4, 2026; ratings and counts change and are not an independent quality assessment.

The listing advertises Apple Pencil support, including the phrase “Great Apple Pencil support.” A Pencil is optional: the listing does not establish which iPad and Apple Pencil generations are compatible, so verify compatibility for your hardware in the current store information.
For browser drawing and animation
Mandalize is the documented fit if you want a browser workflow with animated output as well as still images. Its official help describes radial repetition, drawing and shape tools, imported animated GIFs and keyframe animation. Its help says, “It runs entirely in your browser: no login, no install, and no account required.” That is the product’s description; the available documentation does not independently verify how it handles network traffic or test each export format.

Mandalize’s about page says work remains on the user’s machine unless the user chooses to save or share it. Read the product’s own explanation if data handling matters to your decision.
For another iOS symmetry-drawing option
Make it Mandala is distinct from Mandala Maker: symmetry doodle. Its listing describes palettes, fill, radial symmetry, image export and saving to the photo gallery. Its version-history text describes PDF, SVG and MP4 export and adjustable export size in version 2.0, as well as a Pro tier. Because version-history notes are not a guarantee of current tier access, check the live listing for present features and purchase terms.

How to choose an export format
Start with what you plan to do after drawing. A still image is suitable for sharing or printing; vector and PDF formats may suit workflows that need scalable artwork or a document; GIF, WebP and video are for motion. The documented formats vary by tool:
- PNG: Mandalize documents still-image export in PNG.
- Animated GIF and animated WebP: Mandalize documents both formats for animation.
- MP4/WebM video: Mandalize documents video export. Make it Mandala’s version 2.0 history also mentions MP4, but current availability by tier is not established by that note.
- PDF and SVG: Make it Mandala’s version 2.0 history mentions these formats. The Mandala Maker: symmetry doodle listing text accessed here says image export but does not name formats.
Before committing to a tool, confirm the exact format and export-size controls in its current interface or listing. An app’s general claim of “image export” does not tell you whether it creates the file type your next app, print service or workflow requires. If you want to print a still image, ordinary printing is a possible downstream use; the product descriptions do not require specialty paper or a particular printer, nor do they guarantee print quality.
