Its Kickstarter campaign was funded, but that is not proof that backers received a finished product. Current sales, shipping and support could not be verified from the available sources, so treat Makerarm as a historical proposal—not a product you can assume is available today.
What was Makerarm?
Makerarm was presented as a personal fabrication system built around a robotic arm and interchangeable tool heads. Rather than serving only as a 3D printer, it was intended to take on a range of desktop workshop tasks. Its Kickstarter campaign ran from October 6 to November 10, 2015, and raised $435,433 from 340 backers against a $349,750 goal (Kickstarter campaign). Those figures record the campaign’s funding outcome; they do not establish that backers received a finished machine.
Contemporaneous reporting described a desktop arm with interchangeable heads for 3D printing, plotting, milling, laser engraving and electronics assembly. Embedded also reported its footprint, reach and a broad work envelope, but those are descriptions published in 2015, not current or independently verified specifications (Embedded, 2015). A company profile described Makerarm as a SCARA robot and listed 17 supported tool heads, as well as a pre-order offer below $4,000. That profile is not evidence of current inventory or support (Makerarm company profile).
What the campaign claimed about precision and software
Makerarm’s campaign FAQ gave positioning repeatability of 0.044 mm and absolute positioning error of 0.1 mm. These were the creator’s historical figures, not results independently confirmed here. The FAQ answer, last updated October 16, 2015, stated: “The arm has a tested repeatability of 0.044mm (0.0017 in) and an absolute positioning error of 0.1 mm.” In this context, “tested” is the campaign’s wording; it should not be read as an independent test report (Makerarm campaign FAQ).

- Stronger Solid Lead: This work pencil is matched with a 2.8 mm thick lead , which is much thicker and stronger during the drawing process of construction work, it will not break or damage easily
- Marks on Various Surfaces: 3 colors solid construction pencil can marks on various surfaces, such as metal, plastic, wood, paper etc. Ideals for woodworkers, contractors, craftsmen, builders, merchants and masons
The FAQ said the control software accepted G-code. It also described mapping surface height so the arm could follow an angled work surface, provided that surface was clean, flat and not flexible. These are historical workflow claims, not confirmation of compatibility with every CAD application or of present-day software availability.
How the tool heads were meant to work
The campaign described a fourth-axis head for orienting a tool, typically for pick-and-place work. It also mentioned a fifth-axis head as still in development at the time. The FAQ does not establish that the fifth-axis head later became available (Makerarm campaign FAQ).

- Ergonomically Designed: Work in tight areas with a compact design that gets into tough spots
- Compact and Lightweight: Both tools are designed to fit into difficult to reach spaces. The 1/4" impact driver has a length of 5.55 in. and weighs just 2.8 lbs, while the 1/2" drill/driver measures only 7.5 in. and weighs 3.6 lbs
- Both the DEWALT impact driver and electric drill driver feature integrated LED work lights with a convenient 20-second delay, ensuring enhanced visibility in dimly lit or challenging work areas
- One-Handed Loading - Keep one hand free with a 1/4 in. hex chuck that accepts 1 in. bit tips
- Power drill cordless with 1/2" single sleeve ratcheting chuck provides tight bit gripping strength, making bit changes faster and more secure
The breadth of the concept is what distinguished Makerarm from a conventional desktop 3D printer: one arm was meant to switch among different tasks by changing its head. That flexibility would also mean different setup, workholding and safety needs from one operation to another. The available sources do not provide a current, like-for-like set of measurements for ranking Makerarm against a desktop printer or an educational robot-arm kit.
Safety depended on the job and tool
Makerarm’s FAQ identified hazards associated with several proposed heads. It said laser use required protective eyewear and could produce fumes when engraving plastics or similar materials. The 3D-printing tip could become very hot, while the CNC cutting head spun at high speed. The page said an acrylic safety enclosure was planned as an accessory; it does not confirm that the enclosure shipped (Makerarm campaign FAQ).

For a classroom or shared workshop, those hazards would call for controls appropriate to each process rather than treating the machine as a low-risk desktop robot. The historical FAQ does not establish a complete, shipped safety system for all of the proposed operations.
Is Makerarm available to buy now?
Current Makerarm sales, shipping and support are not established by the available sources. The 2015 Kickstarter campaign page shows a later update dated October 20, 2018, while its engineering answers date to October 2015. A company profile and a historic pre-order mention do not confirm that the product is operating, orderable or supported today. Do not treat the campaign funding total or old offer as a present-day buying option.

An adjacent option for learning about robot arms
The MeArm Maker Kit is a separate educational project for people interested in building and programming a robot arm; it does not reproduce Makerarm’s multi-tool fabrication functions. Its product listing describes a flat-pack kit with laser-cut acrylic parts, a custom PCB and cable, hardware, and metal-gear servo motors. The buyer supplies a controller and power supply. When the listing was accessed on October 1, 2026, it showed the kit as sold out at £46.99, so check the store page for current stock before considering it (MeArm Maker Kit listing).
Makerarm’s FAQ also mentioned a one-year commercial Fusion 360 subscription offered historically to backers. That was a campaign-era offer, not a current promotion (Makerarm campaign FAQ).
