You can assemble a vertical reel compilation in ReelWorkshop’s browser editor, but exporting the finished video is not free: the guide lists importing, arranging, trimming, and previewing at no charge, while rendering and downloading require its paid Starter plan. The current product page lists a card-required three-day trial followed by $19.99 USD per month unless you cancel before renewal. Terms can change, so check ReelWorkshop’s live plan page before starting.
What the browser workflow does—and does not do
ReelWorkshop is designed to turn clips you own into a single vertical compilation. The guide describes importing up to 100 clips in a project, choosing or generating a timed edit plan, previewing the result, and exporting a finished file. It gives 60-, 75-, and 90-second plan targets; these are available edit-plan lengths, not a promise that every source clip will be used or that the editor will identify the best moments automatically.
The workflow is for making a downloadable video, not publishing it. ReelWorkshop says it does not auto-post to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or other social platforms. After export, upload the file yourself or use a separate scheduler or platform-native publishing flow.

How to make the compilation

Gather clips you can use
Start with footage you own or otherwise have permission to use. Pick clips with clear moments, remove duplicates, and avoid importing material you do not have rights to publish.

Import and curate
Import the selected footage into a project. ReelWorkshop’s guide allows up to 100 clips per project. Review the material before arranging it so weak takes and redundant shots do not clutter the edit.

Trim and order the scenes
Trim shaky openings and weak endings, then place the remaining clips in an intentional sequence. Treat any suggested quality or ordering guidance as a suggestion: check that the resulting story makes sense to you.

Choose a target length and preview
Select a 60-, 75-, or 90-second edit-plan target, then preview the proposed cut. Make adjustments before rendering; the guide recommends checking the plan first so you do not spend paid export allowance on a version you have not reviewed.

Export, verify, and upload
Choose the available resolution and audio settings, render the video, and download it. Play the downloaded file locally to check framing, picture, and sound before uploading it through your chosen publishing route.

Export format and resolution
ReelWorkshop’s guide lists vertical 9:16 H.264 MP4 output with AAC audio in either 1080×1920 or 720×1280. The guide describes 1080×1920 as its preferred option for most Reels, TikTok, and Shorts uploads, and 720×1280 as a lighter-file option. That is product guidance, not a platform requirement; choose based on your intended use and file-size needs.
What “free” means in ReelWorkshop
According to ReelWorkshop’s guide and product page, public demos and guides are free to browse, and importing, arranging, trimming, and previewing are available without charge. Rendering and downloading require Starter. As listed on the product page accessed October 7, 2026, Starter costs $19.99 USD per month after a three-day trial that requires a payment card. The plan renews automatically unless canceled before renewal.

The same product page lists 60 exported minutes per calendar month and 25 GB for source clips and exports. Editing and previewing are listed as unlimited locally. These are vendor-listed plan terms, not permanent guarantees; verify the current price, trial, and limits on the live page before relying on them.
Where your footage goes
“In the browser” does not mean all files stay on your device. ReelWorkshop says imported clips are backed up privately for cross-device continuation, and its guide notes that footage leaves your device when saved to your account. If keeping source footage local is a requirement, this account-backed workflow may not fit. The vendor’s privacy wording should not be treated as an independent security assessment.

When another editor may fit better
ReelWorkshop’s guide identifies effects-heavy edits, stickers, animated captions, complex multi-layer timelines, and mobile-first effects as cases where CapCut or VN may be a better next step. For other browser-based choices, the vendors describe different models; their claims are not independent performance comparisons, and plan terms should be checked directly.

- VoxCut: Its Reels page advertises a free plan and paid plans starting at $5.67 per month, along with captions, long-video clipping, and scheduling or auto-posting to TikTok and YouTube. If you manage a large library of source footage or move files between devices, portable storage can be useful for organizing the originals. ReelWorkshop does not state that external storage is required or that it integrates with a particular drive.
