If a LiveReacting stream has no sound on YouTube, first find out whether the silence affects one viewer or everyone, then check where audio disappears: the viewer’s device, a shared Chrome tab, LiveReacting’s selected input, or the outgoing stream. That narrows the fault without changing unrelated settings.
First identify who cannot hear the stream
Ask two questions before troubleshooting: Can you hear the audio in the source or encoder, and are all viewers affected or only one?
- Only one viewer hears silence: Start with that viewer’s YouTube player, browser, and device volume.
- Several viewers hear silence: Check the audio source and the path from LiveReacting through the encoder to YouTube.
- Audio is missing only from a shared tab: Check the browser and screen-sharing options used to share it.
Also note the source type—microphone or camera, uploaded audio, or browser tab—and whether an encoder preview or local recording has sound. Those details help distinguish an input problem from a publishing or playback problem.
If only one viewer cannot hear the stream
Have the affected viewer check the YouTube player’s volume, the browser or device volume, and the device’s sound settings. YouTube’s guidance also recommends restarting the browser or device if sound still does not work. If other viewers can hear the stream, investigate that viewer’s playback path before changing LiveReacting’s broadcast settings.

If audio from a shared tab is missing
LiveReacting documents audio sharing for Chrome tabs. Sharing a screen or app window is not the documented route for tab audio.
- Open the content in Chrome.
- In LiveReacting’s screen-sharing flow, choose Chrome Tab as the source.
- Enable Share Audio.
- Click Share, then check whether the tab’s sound is present in the stream or encoder monitoring.
If the tab itself is audible but the broadcast is not, confirm that the correct tab was selected and that Share Audio was enabled for that share.

If microphone or camera audio is missing
Check that LiveReacting has the intended audio input selected in its device dropdown and that the input is active. LiveReacting’s feature description covers internal and external cameras and audio devices, including microphones; it describes the feature as beta and notes that issues or bugs may occur.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Confirm the selected device is the microphone or camera audio source you mean to use.
- If you have more than one audio device connected, verify that LiveReacting has not selected a different one.
- If the source is not audible locally, investigate the source or device before treating YouTube as the cause.
Buying another microphone is not a general fix for silence: it will not correct muted playback, an unshared browser tab, or audio routed to the wrong input.

- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.

Check LiveReacting’s audio quality setting
LiveReacting recommends audio quality at 128k unless you are sure the destination supports higher-quality audio input. Its guidance warns that higher settings could cause playback problems. This is a setting worth checking when audio behaves unexpectedly, but it is not evidence that a higher setting is the cause of every silent stream.
Use the encoder to locate the break
YouTube recommends checking how the stream looks and sounds directly in the encoder. If you can monitor the encoder output or inspect a local archive, use it to determine whether audio reaches the encoder before it is sent to YouTube.

- No sound in the encoder or local archive: Check the selected audio/video source, how audio is routed to the encoder, encoder errors, and CPU load.
- Sound is healthy in the encoder but viewers hear silence: Investigate the outbound Internet connection and the published stream path.
- One viewer is affected: Focus first on that viewer’s playback device and settings.
- Many viewers on one network are affected: The network they share may be relevant.
- Many viewers on different networks are affected: Focus on the shared broadcast or publishing path rather than one viewer’s device.
When the stream is still silent
If the source is audible locally but the published stream remains silent, collect the details that identify where audio disappears before contacting support:
- The LiveReacting source type and selected audio device.
- The browser and sharing mode, if the source is a shared tab.
- Whether the encoder preview or local recording contains sound.
- Whether one viewer or multiple viewers are affected, and whether affected viewers share a network.
YouTube advises reporting persistent live-stream trouble to its team. Include the observations above so the problem can be narrowed to input, encoding, connectivity, or playback.
