Use await browser.targets() to list every active Puppeteer target across browser contexts. Each item is a Target; inspect it with target.type() to distinguish pages, workers, and other target kinds. To restrict the list to one context, call context.targets().
List every active target in the browser
Call browser.targets() after connecting to or launching a browser. It returns a Target[] covering active targets in all browser contexts.

}The example prints each target’s type and URL. A target is not necessarily a visible tab or ordinary web page, so check its type before using page-specific methods.
Choose the method that matches your scope

For complete target enumeration, pages() is not a substitute: it does not include all non-visible page-like targets. The BrowserContext API documents using Target.page() to access such a page when applicable.

Identify target types
Call target.type() to inspect the documented category. The API reference lists these values:
background_pagebrowserotherpageservice_workershared_workerwebview
Branch on the type before assuming a target supports page operations. For example, a worker target is not the same thing as a normal page target.

Get targets from a particular context
When you already have a BrowserContext, call its targets() method rather than enumerating the entire browser:

}A new context can be created with browser.createBrowserContext(); create a page in it with context.newPage(). Browser contexts have isolated storage, and a newly created browser has at least one default context.

Troubleshoot target enumeration
- A target is missing from
pages(): it may be a non-visible target such as a background page. Enumerate withbrowser.targets()or the relevantcontext.targets(), then inspect the target type. - You see targets from more than one context: this is expected with
browser.targets(). Usecontext.targets()when you want to limit the scope. - Page-specific handling fails: first inspect
target.type(); the result may be a worker, browser, or other target rather than a page. - The method or enum differs from your documentation: Puppeteer references may correspond to different releases. Check your installed Puppeteer version and consult the API reference for that version.
Version note
Puppeteer API references can vary by version. The official reference pages reviewed for this guide reported versions from 25.9.0 through 25.12.0; verify the installed version and use its matching documentation before relying on version-specific behavior.

No. It returns Target objects. Call target.url() on each object to read its URL.
Does browser.targets() include targets in incognito contexts?
It is documented to return active targets across browser contexts. Use context.targets() when you need results scoped to one context.
