LinkedIn’s connection leaderboard ranks your performance in LinkedIn games against participating connections. It does not measure how many professional connections you have, their quality, or whether your networking is successful. Your game score stays private unless you opt into the leaderboard or share it directly.
What LinkedIn’s connection leaderboard measures
LinkedIn defines the feature as: “The connections leaderboard shows how you rank with your connections in each game you play.” — LinkedIn Help, “Games on LinkedIn,” accessed October 5, 2026.
In practice, it compares game performance among your LinkedIn connections who also participate and opt in. It is a social layer for LinkedIn Games, not a ranking of professional reach, networking activity, or career results.

How the feature developed
LinkedIn introduced connections leaderboards in its 2025 rollout. On March 18, 2026, LinkedIn announced Patches, a thinking-oriented puzzle game, alongside planned leaderboard interactions: reacting to connections’ scores, favoriting connections to track competitors, and viewing the previous day’s leaderboard. The 2026 announcement expanded game interactions; it did not mark the leaderboard’s first introduction. Who can see your score?
According to LinkedIn’s Games FAQ, your score is private unless you opt into the connections leaderboard or share the score directly. If you opt in and have played, connections who also opted in may see your score. That audience can include a recruiter or employer if they are both a connection and an opted-in player. This does not mean scores are visible to every LinkedIn member by default.
Score visibility is distinct from visibility about who played: LinkedIn says profile names may appear in the count of connections who played, depending on visibility settings. Its Help page also describes sharing a score or leaderboard with your network, optional notifications about new puzzles, unfinished games, and connections completing or sharing games, as well as daily streaks and game discussion threads. See LinkedIn Help: Games on LinkedIn for current controls and details.

Connection rankings versus company and school leaderboards
LinkedIn also describes separate company and school leaderboards. These rank the top 50 organizations or schools by average score among colleagues, rather than ranking an individual against personal connections.

How to find games and use the leaderboard
LinkedIn’s Games area is the entry point for its games and related scores. Exact placement and available controls may vary as LinkedIn updates the product; consult LinkedIn’s Games Help page for its current instructions. Within the feature, opting in controls whether your score appears on the connections leaderboard; sharing a score directly is a separate action.

In its March 18, 2026 announcement, LinkedIn’s Corporate Communications Team said: “With millions of members playing every day and 86% returning to play again the next day.” That is LinkedIn’s own figure for LinkedIn Games overall; the cited announcement passage does not provide a methodology. It is not a measure of connection-leaderboard adoption, and it does not demonstrate improved professional networking outcomes.

The sources cited here do not establish a leaderboard-specific usage figure, an independent study of outcomes, or evidence that the feature improves networking. For EU members, LinkedIn’s 2025 Digital Services Act report describes games, score sharing, streaks, and leaderboards, and says there are no prizes for winning games in the report’s scope. That is regional regulatory context, not a universal statement about every promotion LinkedIn might run elsewhere.
