If your LG TV repeatedly shows a product-feature or promotional banner, switch it from Store Mode to Home Mode. The menu path depends on the TV’s webOS version. If the banner appears only on the Home menu, turn off Content Recommendation instead; that setting does not control every kind of on-screen banner.
Switch Store Mode to Home Mode
LG says Store Mode is intended for retail displays and can show related messages or advertisements. For normal home use, set the TV to Home Mode. Use the path for your webOS generation; menu names may vary by model.
webOS 23 or 24
- Press the Settings button on the remote.
- Open Support → Home/Store Mode.
- Select Home Mode.
LG USA’s Store Mode instructions list this path for webOS 23 and 24.
webOS 21 or 22
- Open All Settings → General → Devices → TV Management.
- Select Home/Store Mode, then choose Home Mode.
This route is listed in LG USA’s instructions for webOS 21 and 22.
webOS 5.0 or older
- Open All Settings → General → Additional Settings.
- Choose Home Mode. Some generations call the option Home/Store Mode.
LG’s guides also cover older menu families, including webOS 4.0 and earlier NetCast/general TV menus, but the exact route varies by product. See LG USA’s older-model troubleshooting guide or LG España’s Store Mode guide; its labels may differ because the guide is in Spanish.

If the banner is on the Home menu
For an advertisement or recommendation shown on the Home menu, LG provides a separate control: open All Settings → General → System → Additional Settings → Home Settings, then turn off Content Recommendation. This controls Home menu recommendations, not all banners that may appear elsewhere on the TV. LG describes this setting in its guide to advertising messages or images.
If neither setting removes it
“Banner” can mean different things. If the instructions do not match your TV or the message remains, note the exact wording and where it appears—for example, while watching a channel, after changing inputs, or over another app. The LG support pages cited here do not establish one universal fix for channel information, input labels, alerts, or overlays from third-party apps. These documented fixes use the TV’s built-in settings and remote; no purchase is needed for the Store Mode issue.
