If your LG TV’s antenna scan misses channels, check the antenna connection and input, adjust the antenna’s position, then run Auto Tuning again. A scan can only add channels the TV can receive; it does not guarantee that every local station is available. If you get channels through a set-top box, select the box’s input instead of scanning the TV’s antenna tuner.
1. Check the antenna cable and selected input
For direct over-the-air reception, make sure the antenna cable is firmly connected to the TV’s antenna input. A loose connection can interfere with reception or prevent channels from appearing. LG recommends checking the antenna connection when channels are missing (LG’s missing-channel guidance).
First confirm how your TV receives the channels:
- Antenna connected to the TV: Keep the TV on its live-TV or antenna tuner source and continue with the checks below.
- Channels supplied by a set-top box: Use the TV input connected to that box. Auto Tuning scans the TV’s own tuner, not the channels delivered through the box. LG advises set-top-box viewers to switch to the box’s input rather than run an antenna scan (LG Jordan’s Auto Tuning instructions).
Reseat the existing cable at both ends if accessible. If it is visibly damaged, that may be the connection problem; do not replace equipment just because a scan missed channels.

2. Adjust the antenna’s position
A connected antenna may still receive a weak or changing signal. Check that it is positioned where it can receive local broadcasts, then make a small change to its direction or location. LG recommends slightly adjusting antenna direction when channels are missing (LG’s missing-channel guidance).

Moving an indoor antenna nearer a window is one possible placement to try, not a universal solution; reception depends on the location and signal conditions. After adjusting it, rerun Auto Tuning so the TV checks the channels again. LG’s antenna setup guidance also emphasizes connection, reception-friendly placement, and tuning; its menu instructions vary by webOS version (LG’s antenna connection guide).

Find Auto Tuning in your TV’s settings
On many newer LG TVs, the route is Settings → All Settings → General → Channels → Channel Tuning → Auto Tuning → Start. Some older models omit General and go from All Settings directly to Channels. Menu names and routes vary by model and webOS generation, so follow the path that matches your TV’s on-screen menus or model guide. LG publishes both newer and older routes (LG Jordan’s Auto Tuning instructions).

- Open Settings, then All Settings.
- Choose General if that option appears, then Channels. On some models, choose Channels directly.
- Open Channel Tuning, choose Auto Tuning, and select Start.
- Let the scan finish before checking the channel list.
If channels are still missing
Where your model offers it, use Manual Tuning to inspect signal strength or quality. The exact menu route and availability depend on the TV; LG describes a Manual Tuning signal check in troubleshooting guidance, but it should not be assumed to exist in the same place on every model (LG’s signal-check guidance).
