An LG appliance warranty is the manufacturer’s limited warranty for a specific LG product. A home warranty is a separate contract whose coverage depends on its own terms. LG Premium Care is a third option: an optional service plan with separate eligibility, coverage, and exclusions. To know which protection applies, check the exact LG model and dates, then read the contracts rather than assuming one replaces or extends another.
LG appliance warranty vs. home warranty: the key difference

LG’s U.S. warranty language says the warranty applies to qualifying products purchased, installed, and used in the United States and its territories. It covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal and proper use, and LG may repair or replace the product at its option. The warranty clock starts at original delivery or purchase; the model’s own terms determine the duration and exclusions. See LG warranty information.
What does the LG appliance warranty cover?
Use the warranty schedule for the exact model rather than assuming every LG appliance has the same coverage. The schedule may distinguish between the whole appliance and individual components, and may set different periods for parts and labor. A longer component term does not by itself establish that the whole appliance’s repair labor is covered for that period.

That is an example from one model document, not a current or universal LG schedule. The document also requires proof of original retail purchase and lists exclusions. Does a home warranty cover an LG appliance?
It depends on the home-warranty contract. The label “home warranty” does not establish that a particular LG appliance, defect, or repair is covered. Review the actual agreement for the item and failure causes covered, exclusions, dollar limits, service fees or deductibles, claims process, repair-network rules, and effective dates. Terms may also depend on where you live.
Do not assume the home warranty covers a defect excluded by LG, overlaps with LG coverage in a particular way, or supersedes the manufacturer warranty. Those conclusions require comparing both contracts and the facts of the appliance’s failure.

How LG Premium Care differs
LG describes Premium Care as an optional plan offering one to three years of protection for major appliances and home entertainment. Its page describes coverage for mechanical or electrical breakdown after the manufacturer warranty ends, with parts and labor, no deductible, and LG-authorized parts and technicians. LG says limitations and exclusions apply; the current plan terms control. LG identifies Asurion Service Plans, Inc. as the obligor in most states, with different named entities for Florida and the District of Columbia. LG’s page gives the following one-year Premium Care plan prices and stated average repair costs. LG does not state the page year. Treat these as LG’s examples, not independent or necessarily current market averages, guaranteed savings, or a quote for your product.

How to check which coverage applies to your appliance
- Find the model and serial numbers. Use them to identify the exact product and locate its warranty information through LG’s warranty lookup.
- Locate the original purchase or delivery date. Keep the receipt or other proof. The warranty clock starts at original delivery or purchase, and some LG terms require proof of original retail purchase.
- Read the full coverage schedule. Check the end date for the appliance and for each listed component, as well as exclusions and whether parts and labor are treated differently.
- Read the home-warranty contract, if you have one. Confirm whether it covers this item and failure, and check limits, fees, claim timing, service network, effective date, and cancellation terms.
- Check Premium Care separately. Confirm that the product and location are eligible, and compare the current price and contract terms with the coverage you already have.
What happens when the LG warranty expires?
LG says Direct Service is available for out-of-warranty products. Its diagnostic fee is waived if you proceed with the repair, and LG notes that the fee can change. Check the current fee and get a repair quote before deciding. You can compare that quote with other repair options; a separate home warranty or Premium Care plan applies only if its own terms cover the appliance and claim.
LG’s explanation of Premium Care says, “Once the manufacturer’s warranty expires on your product, we’ll cover repairs!” The plan’s contract, including its exclusions and limits, determines whether a particular repair qualifies.
