Choose the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook 14M868 if you want a conventional 14-inch Chromebook with a built-in keyboard. Choose the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11M889 (Gen 9) if you want a touchscreen tablet that can attach to a folio keyboard. The key difference is how you use each device—not a proven winner for speed or battery life.
“Chromebook Duet” has referred to more than one Lenovo device. This comparison uses the current Duet 11M889 / Gen 9, not the older 10.1-inch IdeaPad Duet Chromebook. Check the model number and configuration on any listing before applying these specifications to a device you plan to buy.

The Slim 3 is the more straightforward choice for a desk, school bag, or lap-based routine built around typing. Its screen and keyboard stay together as a clamshell, so there is no folio keyboard to attach when you switch from tablet use to laptop-style work.

With the integrated MediaTek NPU 650, AI power helps enhance user interaction and multimedia experience
- ALL-DAY CONNECTIVITY - Equipped with 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1, a headphone/mic jack and a 3-point Pogo pin connector.It also features Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 for ultra-fast, stable wireless connectivity
- For routine typing: its built-in keyboard and 14-inch format suit longer stretches of document work or browsing better if you prefer a conventional laptop layout.
- For ports: Lenovo lists USB-A, USB-C, an audio combo jack, and microSD. Compare that list with the peripherals you actually use before deciding whether you need an adapter.
- For screen choice: verify the panel on the exact SKU. The family includes TN panels as well as an IPS touchscreen option; the latter is not standard across every Slim 3 configuration.
For example, Lenovo’s PSREF page for SKU 82XJ0041MH lists 8 GB memory and 128 GB storage, but its display is FHD TN rather than the IPS touchscreen option. Check that SKU’s Lenovo PSREF entry.
Choose the Duet if tablet mode matters
The Duet’s defining advantage is that it can be used as a tablet with its keyboard detached, then set up with the folio keyboard when you want laptop-style input. That flexibility is useful if touchscreen interaction or a more tablet-like way of holding the device is part of your normal use—not merely an occasional feature.

- For touch use: Lenovo’s US listing for part 83HH0001US specifies a 10.95-inch WUXGA touchscreen.
- For the included pen: that same US listing specifies a USI Pen 2. Do not assume a different region or part number includes one.
- For portability: the tablet can be separated from its keyboard, but compare the weight of the complete configuration you would carry. A tablet-only figure is not an all-accessories carry weight.
Check the exact display, memory, and storage configuration
Family names do not guarantee identical components. On the Slim 3, Lenovo lists HD TN, FHD TN, and FHD IPS multi-touch display options; the PSREF listing for 82XJ0041MH illustrates that an 8 GB/128 GB configuration can still have an FHD TN panel. The 11M889 Duet PSREF lists 4 GB/64 GB, 4 GB/128 GB, 8 GB/64 GB, and 8 GB/128 GB combinations. Memory is soldered on the cited models, so choose the amount you want at purchase rather than expecting to upgrade it later.
- Find the full model or part number on the retailer listing, device label, or Lenovo page.
- Match that identifier to Lenovo PSREF: use the 14M868 family entry and, where available, its specific SKU entry; for the Duet, consult the 11M889 specification.
- Confirm the screen type, memory, storage, included keyboard or folio, and included pen on the exact regional listing you are considering.
Do not choose by processor name or advertised battery hours alone
The Kompanio 520 and Kompanio 838 are the processors Lenovo specifies for these product families, but those names alone do not show which Chromebook will feel faster for your apps or workload. The manufacturer battery figures are also not a head-to-head test: Lenovo lists a Google power-load result of up to 13.5 hours for the Slim 3 family, while its 2024 Duet announcement says up to 12 hours for the described Duet generation. Those claims do not establish which lasts longer in your day-to-day use.

The current reference here is the Chromebook Duet 11M889 / Gen 9. Lenovo’s older IdeaPad Duet Chromebook was a different device: its datasheet specifies a 10.1-inch display, MediaTek Helio P60T processor, and 4 GB memory. Do not apply the current Duet’s Kompanio 838, 10.95-inch display, or configuration details to that older model. Lenovo’s older IdeaPad Duet Chromebook datasheet identifies that earlier hardware.
