First find out where the sync error starts. Compare a local recording or preview with YouTube’s Live Control Room preview, using the same phone, audio input, network, and Larix profile. If the mismatch is already local, look at capture and audio inputs; if it first appears in YouTube’s preview, check the encoder setup and delivery path. There is no documented Larix setting that fixes every audio/video sync problem.

How to pinpoint where the sync problem starts

Audio and video pass through several stages: the phone captures and encodes them, Larix buffers and sends them, and YouTube processes and delivers the stream. Larix says its interleaving buffer gathers audio and video frames to align them for receiver-side processing, but it controls only part of the end-to-end chain. Network conditions and platform delivery can affect the result too. Softvelum’s Larix FAQ explains these stages; YouTube’s encoder instructions include checking the preview in Live Control Room before going live.

  1. Make a short, controlled test. Use the same phone, audio input, connection, and Larix profile as the affected broadcast. Make a clear cue, such as clapping once where the camera can see it, so you can compare the visible clap with its sound. This is a practical diagnostic technique, not a procedure prescribed by Larix or YouTube.
  2. Check the local result. Review a local recording or preview, if available. Note whether audio leads or trails and whether the offset stays constant or grows.
  3. Check YouTube’s preview. Start a private or unlisted encoder test and inspect it in Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder workflow calls for checking the preview before selecting Go live.
  4. Change one thing at a time. Repeat the same short test after each targeted change. Write down when the mismatch first appears and whether it changes over time.

A clap comparison can locate a likely stage, but it is not an official sync-fix recipe or proof of a particular cause. If the local result is aligned and YouTube’s preview is aligned too, but a viewer still reports a mismatch, playback conditions may be involved; compare another viewer or device before changing your setup.

If audio and video are already out of sync locally

Start with the source path rather than YouTube settings. Larix uses the phone’s system encoder, and mobile frame-rate behavior can vary by device and platform. YouTube advises connecting and configuring the audio and video hardware used with the encoder, but does not say that replacing a microphone or adapter will correct sync.

  1. In Larix, identify the selected audio input. If you use an external microphone, interface, or other audio device, note how it connects and whether any optional audio processing is active.
  2. For a comparison, temporarily use the phone’s built-in camera and audio input and remove optional processing. Record another short test.
  3. If the built-in setup is synchronized, reconnect external devices one at a time and repeat the test after each change. This can help isolate an input or connection path; it does not establish that buying new hardware is necessary.

If audio and video remain misaligned with a simplified setup, the phone’s capture or encoding behavior may be involved. The available Larix and YouTube documentation does not provide a universal device-specific adjustment for that case.

If the local result is aligned but YouTube’s preview is not

Check the YouTube destination and stream credentials

In YouTube Live Control Room, confirm the current server URL and stream key for the intended stream, then check that Larix is sending the intended audio and video. YouTube treats the server URL and stream key as separate encoder details; verify both rather than assuming a correct key alone confirms the full destination setup. Keep your stream key private.

Review delivery and network conditions

Larix documents different buffering behavior across connection protocols and says network problems can increase delivery delay. That does not mean changing protocol will fix a fixed audio/video offset. Avoid switching protocols or adjusting a latency value blindly: the official documentation does not describe either as a universal sync correction. First repeat a controlled test and see whether the mismatch begins in the outgoing stream or varies with network conditions.

If the offset grows during the broadcast

A mismatch that gets larger over time differs from a steady lead or lag. Compare more than one point in a test and note whether the local recording also drifts, whether the phone is under load, and whether network conditions change.

Larix discusses adaptive bitrate (ABR) in relation to delivery problems. Its FAQ also notes that, on iOS, buffering can increase delivery delay when ABR is not used. These are reasons to test a network-delivery hypothesis—not evidence that ABR will correct every sync drift. If you test a bitrate or ABR change, alter one setting, repeat the same test, and compare the result instead of treating the change as a guaranteed repair.

Verify the fix before going public

  1. Repeat the short test with the same visible-and-audible cue.
  2. Check the local result and YouTube Live Control Room preview, and confirm whether the offset is gone or stable.
  3. Only select Go live for the public broadcast once the preview is satisfactory. YouTube’s encoder workflow places preview review before that step.

Common mistakes and what to do instead

  • Changing several settings at once: You will not know which change affected the result. Repeat the same test after one targeted change.
  • Assuming ABR is an audio/video offset control: Larix documents ABR as a response to delivery conditions, not a universal sync fix. Test it only when the evidence points to network-related variation.
  • Switching protocol or latency settings without a comparison: Larix describes differing buffering behavior, but no protocol is identified as the universal remedy. Keep the setup controlled and compare results.
  • Replacing an audio device before isolating it: First compare the built-in phone inputs with the external setup. The documentation does not establish any purchase as a general fix.

Softvelum’s official Larix FAQ directs users to its documentation and helpdesk. Its FAQ gives a typical interleaving-buffer example of about 16 frames—about 250 ms at 30 FPS—but that describes a buffer example, not a universal end-to-end delay or a value to enter as a correction.
