For a laptop with a replaceable, compatible wireless module, Intel’s AX210 is a Wi-Fi 6E option and its BE200 is a Wi-Fi 7 option. Neither is a universal best: the right choice depends on your laptop’s supported module and interface, its antenna setup, your operating system and drivers, and the router’s capabilities. Check those details before buying; a card’s advertised maximum is not a promise of real-world transfer speed.
AX210 vs. BE200: which card fits your needs?
These Intel modules represent different Wi-Fi generations, but their specification sheets alone cannot establish which will perform better in a particular laptop. The BE200’s headline rate, for example, depends on specified radio conditions and is not an independently measured laptop result.

Choose by compatibility, not the generation label alone
Consider the BE200 if your laptop manufacturer supports the exact module and you can use a Wi-Fi 7 access point and its available features. Consider the AX210 when a compatible laptop and Wi-Fi 6E capability meet your needs. A newer card cannot add a Wi-Fi generation’s features to an older router.

Understand what the maximum rate means
Intel lists the BE200 maximum as “5.8 Gbps (320MHz,4096QAM).” That figure is tied to the stated channel width and modulation conditions. Actual file transfers also depend on the router, signal strength, interference, client configuration, protocol overhead, and the remote device. Internet speed is additionally limited by your service plan. No independent head-to-head test or laptop-specific performance result is established by these specifications.

How to check whether a laptop supports a replacement Wi-Fi card
An M.2 slot that looks like the right size does not prove that a module will work. Some laptops have soldered wireless radios, and systems with replaceable modules can still have model-specific electrical, firmware, or antenna requirements.
- Identify the exact laptop model and revision. Check the product label or system information, then find the manufacturer’s service manual and compatibility list for that specific configuration.
- Confirm the wireless card is replaceable. Use the service manual to locate the radio and determine whether it is a removable module rather than soldered to the board.
- Match the module’s size and key. Compare the existing card and documented slot with the proposed module. The AX210 is M.2 2230; the BE200 is available in M.2 2230 or M.2 1216, according to Intel’s specifications. Form factor alone is not enough.
- Verify the host interface and firmware support. Check the laptop documentation for the interface expected by its wireless slot and any model-specific BIOS or firmware restrictions. Do not assume that a physically fitting card has compatible electrical connections or firmware support.
- Check antenna connectors and wiring. Confirm connector type, number, and cable reach. Make sure the laptop’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections are wired as expected for the module.
- Check operating-system and driver support. Verify that your operating system and the laptop vendor’s driver support the chosen card. A module’s listed operating systems do not guarantee that every distribution, driver version, or laptop configuration is supported.
- Review local 6 GHz rules and router support. Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 use 6 GHz where permitted and supported. Confirm the rules that apply in your location and whether your access point supports the relevant band and features.
- Keep a recovery path. Before installation, save the original card and make sure you can restore or reinstall working drivers if the upgrade does not connect.
What a Wi-Fi card upgrade can—and cannot—improve
A replacement card changes the laptop’s wireless endpoint. To use a newer Wi-Fi generation’s features, the access point must support them too, and the relevant bands and channel conditions must be available. A card upgrade cannot raise your internet connection above your service plan or, by itself, eliminate weak signal and interference.

WPA3 support depends on Windows and drivers
Intel’s support article, last reviewed February 7, 2025, includes both the AX210 and BE200 in its list of WPA3-capable adapters. For WPA3-Personal, Intel states a requirement of Windows 10 version 1903 (May 2019) or later and driver 21.10.x or later. For WPA3-Enterprise, it states Windows 10 version 2004 (May 2020) or later and driver 21.90.3 or later. These are Intel’s stated Windows requirements, not a guarantee for every operating system, distribution, driver, or enterprise configuration. Check the Intel WPA3 support article and your device’s driver documentation.
