On most Samsung Galaxy tablets with Google Play access, install Kodi from the Play Store: find the app published by Kodi Foundation, tap Install, then open it. This is the simplest route because Kodi’s Android guide says Google Play selects a suitable build and handles updates. Use Kodi’s official Android download page for a manual APK install only when needed.
Install Kodi from Google Play

Open the Kodi listing on Google Play or search for Kodi in the Play Store.

Confirm the publisher is Kodi Foundation, then tap Install.

When the installation finishes, tap Open or launch Kodi from the tablet’s app screen.

Google Play is the preferred option when the listing is available for your tablet. Kodi’s Android installation guide says the store selects the appropriate build and manages updates by default. Labels and screens can vary by Galaxy model and One UI version.
Install Kodi with its official APK
A manual install is an alternative if you need it, but download the APK only from Kodi’s official Android download page. The page offers builds for different device architectures, including ARM 32-bit and ARM 64-bit. Choose the build appropriate for your tablet; if you cannot determine its architecture, use Google Play if it offers Kodi for your device.

Download the APK, then open it from the browser’s download notification or the tablet’s file manager.

If Samsung blocks the installation, open Settings and search for Install unknown apps.

Allow the app that is opening the APK—such as your browser or file manager—to install unknown apps. The permission belongs to that source app, not to the APK itself.

Return to the APK and follow the installation prompts. When finished, turn off the source app’s permission if you no longer need it.

Samsung warns that allowing installs from unknown apps makes “your phone and personal data more vulnerable to attacks from unknown apps.” Grant the permission only when needed and use Kodi’s own download page rather than an unofficial APK mirror. See Samsung’s unknown-app installation instructions.
Will Kodi work on your Samsung tablet?
It depends on the tablet’s software and hardware, and compatibility with the app does not guarantee every Kodi feature will work well. Kodi’s Android reference lists Android 5.0 or later for Kodi v17 and later, and an x86 or NEON-compatible ARM processor. Treat that as a baseline reference, not a promise of support for every current release or Galaxy model. Kodi notes that Android phones and tablets have more limited support than its primary Android target. Check the Play Store listing for your exact tablet and consult Kodi’s Android documentation and current Android downloads.

App versions change, so check Kodi’s download page for the current release rather than relying on a version number quoted elsewhere.

It does not appear in Google Play: Check the app listing on the tablet. Store availability and compatibility can depend on the specific device.

The download or installation stalls: Check the network connection and free storage, then try again.

The tablet reports incompatibility: Check for available tablet software updates and review Kodi’s Android requirements. A general Android baseline cannot establish compatibility with every Galaxy model.

An APK is blocked: In Settings, search for Install unknown apps and confirm permission is enabled for the browser or file manager opening that APK.

The APK fails to install: Confirm it came from Kodi’s official page and that you selected a build suitable for the tablet’s architecture.

Samsung’s app installation troubleshooting guidance also identifies network access, available space, software version, and app compatibility as factors to check.
What Kodi does—and does not—include
Installing Kodi does not provide a movie or television catalog. Kodi’s official Play Store listing says the official app contains no content; you add media from local or remote storage or media carriers you own. External storage is optional, not a requirement for installing Kodi. If you plan to use a USB-C drive, check your exact tablet’s support and compatibility first; support can vary by model.
