The Anko CM7001A-SA is a discontinued Kmart capsule machine for Nespresso Original and compatible capsules. Its public specifications describe a compact, simple-to-operate machine, but the available exact-model CHOICE listing does not show its test scores. That means there is not enough public evidence here to call it a strong or weak performer on taste. If you already own one, it can still be used with the right capsules and routine cleaning; if you are considering a used or leftover-stock unit, check its condition, price and warranty before buying.
What the CM7001A-SA is—and what its listing tells you
CHOICE lists the Anko CM7001A-SA as a capsule espresso coffee machine, priced at $59 in its listing and marked “Discontinued model.” That is a listed price, not confirmation of current stock or a current selling price. The same listing gives the following specifications; they are published details, not independently verified measurements:

These details can help assess fit and basic ownership needs, but pump pressure and reservoir size do not establish how good a coffee tastes. The listing’s expert rating, taste, ease-of-use, milk-frothing and other test results are member-only. The public information therefore does not support a score-based verdict on this exact model. How well does it make coffee?
A 2025 CHOICE article reports that an unnamed Kmart capsule machine scored 35% for taste and 54% overall. The passage does not identify that machine as the CM7001A-SA, so those figures should not be treated as this model’s results. The article also quotes CHOICE kitchen expert Kim Gilmour saying, “But they have their pros and cons, and historically Kmart machines haven’t stacked up too well compared with many other rival models.” That is a general observation about Kmart machines, not a model-specific test verdict. For a fair comparison with another machine, look for independent results explicitly tied to each model, then weigh them alongside capsule compatibility, current price and availability, capacity, cleaning effort, warranty and ongoing capsule cost. The CM7001A-SA’s public exact-model listing does not provide the test scores needed for a reliable performance ranking.
Which capsules fit the CM7001A-SA?
The manual says the appliance is suitable for “Nespresso original line and Nespresso compatible capsules.” Choose capsules explicitly labelled as compatible with Nespresso Original. The manual does not establish compatibility with other capsule systems; do not assume a capsule will fit just because it is made for a different Nespresso-branded machine or another brand’s system. How to make a coffee
- Fill and seat the water tank, then switch on the machine. Before first use, flush the machine as directed in the manual.
- Wait for the coffee-button indicator to turn green. A red indicator means the water is not yet at brewing temperature.
- Lift the handle to open the capsule gate, insert a compatible capsule and close the gate.
- Press the coffee button once for the small cup cycle, which the manual recommends at 40 ml. To start the large cup cycle, hold the button for three seconds; the recommended volume is 90 ml.
- Do not lift the handle while coffee is brewing. After brewing, lift it to release the used capsule into the collection tray.

Cleaning and descaling
Unplug the machine before cleaning, and never immerse it in water. The manual’s routine care instructions are to rinse the removable water tank and capsule collection tray frequently, clean the capsule gate with a dry cloth, and wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. For a new machine, flush it before preparing the first coffee.

For mineral deposits, the manual recommends a commercially available kettle descaling solution. How often descaling is needed depends on local water quality and how often the machine is used. Follow the descaler’s own mixing directions, then rinse the tank and machine afterward; the manual does not prescribe a fixed calendar interval.
Common problems and what to check
- The machine does not operate: Check that it is connected to power and that the water tank is in place.
- The lights are on, but no coffee comes out: Try a new capsule.
- Water appears beneath the machine: Check that the water tank is seated correctly.
- A new capsule will not go in, or a used one will not eject: Empty the capsule collection tray.
- You hear a slight hiss after brewing: The manual describes this as a normal sound from the pressure-control valve.
Availability, warranty and whether to buy or keep one
CHOICE marks the model discontinued, so its listing does not confirm that a retailer or marketplace currently has stock. If you find a used or remaining-stock unit, check that it powers on, heats, dispenses water, accepts and ejects capsules, and has an intact tank and tray. Compare the asking price with the condition and with alternatives for which model-specific independent results and current support are available.

CHOICE lists a one-year warranty. The manual describes a 12-month Kmart Australia Ltd warranty for qualifying defects, with refund, repair or exchange where possible and subject to exclusions; it says this is additional to Australian Consumer Law rights. For a particular machine or claim, check the current seller’s terms or contact Kmart rather than assuming the manual settles your individual case.

If you already own the CM7001A-SA and it works reliably, its stated Nespresso Original compatibility and straightforward cleaning instructions provide a practical basis for continuing to use it. If you need evidence of taste performance before buying, the public exact-model information is not enough to make that decision confidently.
