For a low-cost paid personal or family plan, RoboForm is the better fit on the prices listed by the providers; for a free plan that syncs across devices, neither product delivers that after its trial or on its free tier. RoboForm’s free plan allows unlimited passwords on one device, while Keeper’s post-trial free plan is limited to one mobile device and 10 records. Keeper’s listed paid plans cost more, but plan prices alone do not establish which manager is more secure or better for your workflow.

Prices and features below were checked on October 7, 2026. Promotions, checkout totals and renewal terms can change, so confirm the current amount and billing basis on each provider’s page before buying.

Keeper vs RoboForm at a glance

Hardware security keys FIDO2 security keys are listed for the trial, not the free tier. Keeper free plan Hardware keys are listed among account two-factor authentication options. RoboForm security
Notable documented tools Passkey records can be stored in the vault; supported use depends on the website or app. Keeper passkey support Import, form filling, Windows application login, secure sharing and an integrated TOTP authenticator are listed on RoboForm’s product pages. RoboForm Premium

The listed annual renewals make RoboForm the less expensive option for both personal and family use on these pages. This is not a guarantee of the final checkout total: the vendors use different billing presentations, and offers or terms can change.

Which one is better for personal use?

Choose RoboForm if price and a usable one-device free plan matter most

RoboForm’s pricing page lists its free tier as unlimited passwords on one device. That can work if you mainly need a vault on a single phone or computer and do not need the free account to keep multiple devices in sync. Its Premium renewal is listed at $29.88 per year, substantially below Keeper Unlimited’s listed $42.99 annual price, although you should check current checkout details rather than rely on a promotional field.

  • POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The Security Key C NFC is the essential physical passkey for protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts.

  • FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your Security Key C NFC via USB-C and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC) to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required.
  • TRUSTED PASSKEY TECHNOLOGY: Uses the latest passkey standards (FIDO2/WebAuthn & FIDO U2F) but does not support One-Time Passwords. For complex needs, check out the YubiKey 5 Series.
  • BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.

RoboForm also documents import from major browsers, password managers and CSV files, plus form filling and Windows application login. These may suit someone moving an existing collection or who wants more than browser password storage. The feature list does not establish that every import source or login workflow behaves identically, so check the relevant product details for your devices and apps. See RoboForm Premium features

Choose Keeper if its workflow or paid features justify the higher listed price

Keeper Unlimited is listed at $42.99 per year, and its consumer trial lasts 30 days, according to the Keeper Security Help Center article updated April 1, 2026. After the trial, Keeper’s free plan is much narrower: one mobile device, 10 records, no unlimited sync, no sharing and no browser-extension access, according to its July 30, 2026 comparison. It is therefore not a like-for-like free alternative to RoboForm’s one-device unlimited-password plan.

Compare the paid products against what you actually need—such as how you use your devices, share vault items, or move passwords—rather than treating the annual price as a security score. The cited materials do not establish a comprehensive feature-by-feature equivalence between the two paid plans.

Which family plan offers better value?

RoboForm lists Family for up to five Premium accounts at $3.98 per month billed annually, with an annual renewal of $47.75. Keeper lists Keeper Family at $91.99 per year. On the listed renewal figures, RoboForm costs less and explicitly states a five-account limit. Keeper’s cited pricing article does not provide a comparable member limit in the available details, so confirm the current plan’s member allowance and sharing rules before choosing it.

For a household, price is only one part of the decision. Check whether each person gets an individual account, how shared items are managed, and what happens if a member leaves the plan. Do not assume that similar plan names mean identical sharing controls.

Free plans, trials and device limits

  • RoboForm Free: unlimited passwords on one device, according to its pricing page. The cited page does not establish free multi-device sync.
  • Keeper trial: a 30-day consumer trial, as stated in Keeper’s pricing help article updated April 1, 2026.
  • Keeper Free after trial: one mobile device and 10 records; the feature comparison excludes unlimited sync, sharing and browser-extension access. Its table lists FIDO2 security keys for the trial, not the free plan.

If you need a password manager on both a phone and a computer, these free offers do not provide equivalent ongoing multi-device use. Confirm the plan’s current device and sync limits before moving your primary vault.

Passkeys and account sign-in are different jobs

A passkey saved for a website or app is a credential used to sign in to that service. A passkey used to unlock a password manager is a separate account-access method. The distinction matters when comparing feature lists: support for storing website passkeys does not, by itself, mean the manager account can be unlocked with one.

Keeper

Keeper says it can store passkeys in vault records, and that using a passkey depends on the website or app supporting passkeys. Its support page lists Android 14 or later and iOS 17 or later support. Keeper’s passkey details

RoboForm

RoboForm lists passkeys, trusted devices and hardware security keys among its account two-factor authentication options. It separately describes Passwordless Unlock using a passkey stored locally or remotely. A FIDO2 hardware key is optional, not a prerequisite for using either manager. The cited Keeper comparison places FIDO2 keys in its trial column rather than the free tier, while RoboForm lists hardware keys among its 2FA options.

Security: what the available claims do and do not show

RoboForm describes its security model as zero-knowledge and says it uses AES-256 with PBKDF2 SHA256, with decryption on the user’s device. Its security page states: “Your data is encrypted with your own secret key—the Master Password. All decryption happens on your device and not on our servers. We have no way of knowing your Master Password or accessing your data.” This is RoboForm’s own description, not independent verification. RoboForm’s security page

The Keeper sources cited here document passkey and FIDO2-related features but do not provide enough comparable, independently verified evidence to rank Keeper’s overall security above or below RoboForm’s. A fair security comparison would require evidence beyond the feature and vendor-description pages covered here.

What about small-business use?

Do not select a personal or family plan for a team solely because its price looks attractive. Keeper offers distinct business products, and RoboForm describes a business security dashboard and granular access control. The listed sources do not provide comparable business pricing, so a team buyer should evaluate business plans separately.

  • Check administrative controls and role-based access.
  • Ask how accounts are provisioned and removed when staff join or leave.
  • Confirm audit, reporting and recovery requirements.
  • Compare per-seat pricing and contract terms directly with current vendor quotes.

Those operational needs are different from managing passwords for one person or a household; the personal-plan prices above are not a business-plan comparison.

How to choose

  1. Decide whether free use is enough. For a one-device vault with unlimited passwords, RoboForm’s listed free tier is the clearer fit. Keeper’s post-trial free plan has a 10-record limit and no browser extension or unlimited sync.
  2. Price the paid plan at renewal. Compare RoboForm’s listed annual renewals with Keeper’s annual plan prices, and verify checkout totals because promotions and billing can change.
  3. For a family, verify the member count and sharing behavior. RoboForm states a limit of up to five Premium accounts; verify Keeper’s current allowance and the exact sharing controls before committing.
  4. Check platform and passkey requirements. Confirm support for your phone, computer and the websites or apps where you intend to use passkeys.
  5. For a team, switch to the business-plan comparison. Evaluate administration, provisioning, audit needs and per-seat cost rather than extrapolating from consumer plans.
