Kaspersky announced Kaspersky Container Security (KCS) on October 16, 2023, as an enterprise security product for containerized applications. The launch announcement describes coverage from development through operation, including runtime. Kaspersky’s current product page and 2026 licensing guide add the presently described checks, integrations, deployment environments and node-based licensing model.

What is Kaspersky Container Security?

KCS is Kaspersky’s specialized security solution for containerized environments. The October 16, 2023 launch announcement presents it as a lifecycle platform: security checks begin with container images and configuration, continue through deployment, and extend into runtime protection and monitoring.

The announcement identifies three components:

  • KCS scanner: checks configuration files and scans images for vulnerabilities, malware and sensitive data. It also checks image-registry and CI/CD settings against assurance policies.
  • KCS agent: runs in the protected environment, monitors container and network activity in clusters, and checks systems against security standards.
  • KCS server: aggregates scanner and agent information, provides visualization and reporting, and integrates with other security systems, including SIEM platforms.

Kaspersky’s launch statement describes these capabilities as a way to support a DevSecOps process. That is the vendor’s characterization; the announcement is not an independent effectiveness study.

How does Kaspersky Container Security protect containerized applications?

Kaspersky’s current product page describes controls across images, cluster infrastructure and running workloads. The page lists the following vendor-described capabilities:

  • Aggregated findings and reports through the KCS server.
  • Integration with other security products, including SIEM systems, according to the launch announcement.

These are capabilities stated in Kaspersky’s current materials, not independently verified performance results. The exact controls available in a deployment can depend on the product version, orchestration platform and license tier.

Supported environments and integrations

The current KCS Features & Licensing Guide lists on-premises and cloud container environments. It names these orchestration environments:

  • Kubernetes
  • Red Hat OpenShift
  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS)

The same guide lists support for Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. It also names image-registry integrations with Docker Hub, JFrog Artifactory, Sonatype Nexus OSS, GitLab Registry, VMware Harbor, Red Hat Quay, Amazon Elastic Container Registry, Azure Container Registry and Google Container Registry.

For CI/CD, the guide lists Jenkins, TeamCity and CircleCI integrations that can block images or containers when threats are detected. Confirm the precise product version, connector behavior and regional availability before deployment: a platform appearing in the guide does not by itself establish compatibility with every version or configuration.

Which KCS license tier fits a deployment?

Kaspersky’s 2026 guide presents three tiers. The guide describes the following positioning; tier names alone should not be treated as a complete entitlement list.

Tier Guide-described scope Questions to verify
Standard Core image protection and integrations. Which registries, scanners and policy controls are included for the target version?
Advanced Image protection plus runtime protection and enhanced monitoring and compliance functions. Which runtime, audit and reporting features are enabled in the customer’s region?
Advanced Pro Advanced capabilities with AI-based scanned-image descriptions and customized security benchmarks, as described by the guide. What benchmark customization, AI functionality and support terms apply?

For a binding feature matrix, use the current guide and Kaspersky’s regional commercial terms rather than inferring entitlements from the tier labels.

How is KCS licensed?

The 2026 guide counts nodes on which the KCS Agent is deployed. It states: one license equals one node for those agent-deployed nodes. Its example says that 500 nodes with container deployments require 500 licenses. This is an operational licensing rule, not a market statistic.

Count the nodes where the agent will actually run, including planned growth and separate clusters, then confirm the definition of a licensable node in the customer’s country. The guide directs customers to check licensing terms with a Kaspersky account manager.

What should an enterprise evaluate before buying?

Deployment fit

Map every cluster and cloud account to the orchestration environments listed in the guide. Verify version support, network requirements, agent placement and any restrictions on managed services such as AKS or ECS.

Security coverage

Decide whether the immediate requirement is image and infrastructure-as-code checking, runtime control, or both. Confirm which checks are preventive in CI/CD and which are monitoring or response controls after deployment.

Integration needs

Inventory registries, CI/CD tools, SIEM workflows and existing identity systems. Validate the specific connector and the actions available when a threat is detected, such as blocking an image or container.

Compliance and reporting

Identify required standards, evidence retention and reporting audiences. Ask whether the selected tier supplies the relevant audits, benchmarks, dashboards and export formats.

What the 2023 announcement does—and does not—establish

The dated announcement establishes when Kaspersky introduced KCS and how the company described its three-part architecture and lifecycle goal at launch. The current product page and 2026 guide are the appropriate references for the presently listed features, integrations and licensing structure. Neither set of vendor-authored materials supplies independent benchmark results, a customer deployment study or a neutral comparison with competing container-security products.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Kaspersky publish a public price for Container Security?

The current product page and reviewed 2026 licensing guide do not publish a public price. Kaspersky directs prospects to a demo request or local partner, with country-specific terms confirmed through an account manager.

Is Kaspersky Container Security only for Kubernetes?

No. The 2026 guide lists Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Azure AKS and Amazon ECS, along with on-premises and cloud environments. Verify exact version and integration compatibility for the intended deployment.

The Bottom Line

KCS is an enterprise container-security platform announced in 2023 and currently documented around image analysis, cluster configuration, runtime monitoring, compliance and reporting. Its licensing is agent-deployed-node based, so validate platform compatibility, required controls and country-specific terms before purchase.
