For a two-week trip to Italy, start with the gadgets your itinerary and devices actually require: a compatible plug adapter, a power bank allowed by your airline, and a plan for mobile data. The available information does not verify a particular set of 16 gadgets, their prices, or that an author brought or tested them, so this guide focuses on practical choices travelers can assess before packing.
Which plug adapter works in Italy?
Italy uses both Type C and Type L sockets. Check what your accommodation provides and what plug each device uses; a Type C/L adapter is a practical choice if your plugs are incompatible. Italia.it says Italian sockets are regulated by CEI 23-50, and that multistandard outlets combine socket types. It also notes that adapters are sold in supermarkets, specialty shops, and many hotels. Italia.it’s practical information for travelers describes the socket types.
An adapter only changes the plug’s physical shape. It does not convert voltage. Before plugging in a device, read its input label or manual and confirm it accepts the local supply. This matters especially for heat-producing appliances; do not assume a hair dryer or other high-power device is dual-voltage. If its rating does not support the supply, use an appropriate voltage converter or leave the device at home. A converter is a separate device and is not a substitute for checking the appliance’s requirements.
What to compare in an adapter
- Whether it accepts your home-country plug and fits the Type C and L sockets you may encounter.
- Its size and weight for your bag.
- Whether its charging ports suit your devices.
- Whether each connected device supports the voltage it will receive; the adapter itself does not establish compatibility.
Should you pack a power bank?
A power bank can keep a phone or other small device charged between outlets, but check the rules for the airline actually operating each flight. EASA advises carrying portable electronic devices in hand baggage where possible. Spare batteries and power banks must be in cabin baggage rather than checked baggage and protected individually against short circuits. EASA also advises against charging power banks or using them to supply power onboard. See EASA’s dangerous-goods guidance.

Carrier details can differ. Ryanair’s Italian help page says a passenger may carry up to two power banks, subject to its spare-battery limits, with a maximum of 100 Wh; each must be protected against short circuits and kept on the passenger or under the seat, not in an overhead locker. ITA Airways also lists a maximum of two power banks per passenger and a 100 Wh limit without authorization, with cabin carriage and protection required. These pages were accessed October 7, 2026; airline rules can change, so confirm the current policy with your operating carrier before departure. See Ryanair’s Italian baggage guidance and ITA Airways’ battery guidance.
How to choose one
- Check its watt-hour capacity against your carrier’s current limit and conditions; do not assume a particular capacity is permitted.
- Compare weight with how often you expect to be away from an outlet.
- Pack it in cabin baggage, protect it from short circuits, and follow the carrier’s instructions for where it must be stored onboard.
Do you need a SIM or travel eSIM?
That depends on your existing mobile plan, roaming charges, and how much connectivity you need. Italia.it recommends checking roaming offers and tariffs before departure. It also notes that free Wi-Fi is available at some commercial establishments and cultural venues, and says a local SIM may be worth considering for a long stay. Those points do not establish that every visitor needs a SIM or that a particular eSIM provider is best. Review your carrier’s terms, consider whether Wi-Fi will meet your needs, and compare a local SIM if you expect to stay longer. Italia.it’s connectivity information provides the destination guidance.

Which other gadgets depend on your itinerary?
Choose weather-related gear from your actual destinations and travel dates rather than a generic Italy packing list. Italia.it says climate varies by place and season and advises checking expected temperatures. Its published ranges are winter temperatures of -2.7°C to 9.9°C in the north and 5.8°C to 14.9°C in the south; for summer, it gives about 10.1°C to 24.4°C in the north and 17.2°C to 29.6°C in the south. The page does not give a publication year for these figures, so use a current forecast for your itinerary. Italia.it’s climate guidance has the ranges and packing advice.
Use the same itinerary-first approach for any other electronic accessories: pack only what solves a real need, such as keeping devices charged or organizing the cables you will use. The available information does not establish a tested list of 16 gadgets, product rankings, or prices under $100; treat those claims as unverified rather than as a buying recommendation.

Power banks and electronics
Check the operating airline’s current battery rules for your route, including watt-hour limits, quantity, cabin placement, and short-circuit protection. Rules cited above are specific to the named guidance, not a guarantee for every carrier or flight.
Liquids in cabin baggage

The page’s last update is September 8, 2021; verify current airport and airline rules before packing liquids. ENAC’s cabin-prohibited-items guidance sets out that rule.

Documents and payment access
Entry-document requirements depend on your origin, so verify the rules for your nationality and travel date rather than relying on a general packing article. Italia.it recommends carrying a copy of important identity documents. If a document is lost, it advises reporting the loss to police and contacting your consulate; if a payment card is lost or compromised, block it promptly. See Italia.it’s travel-document and payment guidance.
