Watch Dogs: Legion is worth considering if you want its recruit-anyone take on an open-world adventure or are especially interested in the Bloodline story featuring Aiden Pearce and Wrench. The best edition depends on whether you want only the base game or also the Season Pass content; the extra packs in Deluxe and Ultimate are not the same as major story expansions. Prices and platform availability vary, so check the live listing for your region before buying.
What makes Watch Dogs: Legion distinctive?
Legion is built around recruiting and playing as people you encounter in London. Ubisoft describes recruits as having different backstories, personalities, and skills, making that system the game’s clearest distinguishing feature. The setting is a near-future London, and the campaign can be approached through the people you bring into the resistance.

Whether that premise makes the game enjoyable is a matter of taste. Store listings explain features and bundle contents, but they are not independent evaluations of gameplay quality; this guide does not claim firsthand testing.
Which edition should you buy?
Standard is the straightforward choice if you want the base game. The higher editions add different extras, and their precise contents can vary by storefront listing. Compare what is included on the platform where you intend to play.
#1 Best Overall

- Whoever met in the city can be played as part of their companion, and each has a backstory, personality and skill set
- Hack your armed drone, unfold the Spider Bot and eliminate your enemies while concealing them with the AR Cloak
- Explore the open world recreating the huge city, and enjoy the countless landmarks and fun side activities
- Invite new members online, collaborate with friends to make missions and challenge challenging end game content
| Edition or add-on | What official listings include | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | The base game. Listed as the core game by Ubisoft’s US Store and PlayStation. | Players who mainly want the campaign and recruit-anyone premise. |
| Deluxe | PlayStation lists the London Dissident Pack, Lynx Operative, and one week of VIP status. Steam describes the Deluxe Pack as including the London Dissident Pack, Lynx Operative, and one week of VIP Pass. | Players who specifically want those character, cosmetic, or VIP extras; these are not presented as a major story expansion. |
| Gold | PlayStation lists the base game, Season Pass, Watch Dogs Complete Edition, four heroes, extra DedSec missions, and a DedSec car skin. Steam describes Gold as including the Season Pass. | Players who want Bloodline and the broader Season Pass content. |
| Ultimate | PlayStation lists Gold’s contents plus the Ultimate Pack. Steam describes the base game, Season Pass, and Ultimate Pack, with unique characters, masks, and four-week VIP status in its description. | Players who value the Ultimate Pack extras enough to justify any price difference over Gold. |
| Bloodline | A standalone expansion or a Season Pass inclusion. Ubisoft describes it as a prequel adventure featuring Aiden Pearce and Wrench. | Players most interested in those returning characters and their story. |
For the lowest-cost entry, compare the live Standard price. Gold is the bundle to consider if you want the Season Pass benefits, while Ultimate is only a better fit if its additional pack matters to you. Deluxe is primarily an extras bundle rather than a route to the larger story content.
What does the Season Pass include, and is Bloodline included?
Yes. Bloodline is available separately and is included in the Season Pass. Ubisoft describes the expansion as a prequel story centered on Aiden Pearce and Wrench; Ubisoft announced its release for July 6, 2021. The Season Pass also includes extra missions, four playable heroes, and the original Watch Dogs Complete Edition.

Ubisoft’s US store lists the game and editions, including the Season Pass and Bloodline, but the exact offer shown can change. On PC, Ubisoft states that DLC bought on Ubisoft.com or Ubisoft Connect is compatible only with a base game bought through those same platforms. Check that the base game and DLC storefronts match before purchasing.

Which platforms are listed, and what should PC players check?
The current pages reviewed include PS4 and PS5 listings and a Steam PC listing. Ubisoft’s historical Bloodline announcement documented Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PS5, PS4, Stadia, and Amazon Luna at the expansion’s release. That historical list does not establish that every platform storefront or streaming service remains available today; confirm the exact regional listing before purchase.

Is online play required, and do you need PlayStation Plus?
PlayStation marks online play as optional and says a PS Plus subscription is required for online play; its listing supports up to eight online players. That requirement does not apply if you only plan to play the solo campaign. Ubisoft’s 2021 feature coverage described co-op, Tactical Ops, and Spiderbot Arena, but the materials cited here do not establish the current service status of online features on every platform.

So, is it worth playing today?
It has a clear buying case for players drawn to building a roster of playable Londoners or to Bloodline’s Aiden Pearce and Wrench story. Start with Standard if you want to try the core game at the lowest available price; choose Gold if the Season Pass’s story, missions, heroes, and original game are valuable to you. Pay more for Ultimate only if you want its specific extras. There is not enough evidence here to make a universal judgment about gameplay quality or current player activity.
In a December 2020 message, the Watch Dogs: Legion Dev Team said: “We’ll continue to make improvements to single player as needed and based on what we have seen, we can now confidently say that the game is in a solid state for all players across all platforms.” That is the developer team’s statement about the game’s state at that time, not an independent assessment of the game today.
