Urlbox can be worth it if you want scheduled screenshots and a way to review visual or content changes; it is not established by the available product information as a complete uptime-alerting service. For a no-code solo project, CaptureDeck Solo is listed at $29 per month for up to 1,000 captures and daily schedules. The Urlbox Screenshot API starts at a lower listed price, $19 per month for up to 2,000 renders, but you need to arrange scheduling and review yourself.

What Urlbox can monitor—and what it may not

Urlbox provides a hosted rendering API that can turn URLs or HTML into screenshots, PDFs, videos, and extracted text, HTML, or metadata. It also offers CaptureDeck, a separate no-code product for submitting URL lists, scheduling captures, comparing changes, and downloading reports. The API supports render links and synchronous or asynchronous JSON requests. Urlbox and its product documentation describe workflows for visual records and page-change review.

CaptureDeck is described as detecting visual, text, and metadata differences, including layout shifts, missing elements, and altered HTML. That makes it relevant when you need to see how pages change over time. It does not, by itself, establish that Urlbox checks site availability on a particular interval or automatically sends email, SMS, or other outage alerts. If your main need is prompt notification that a site is down, verify those details directly and consider pairing screenshot-based review with a dedicated uptime monitor.

Urlbox pricing and which option fits a small project

Prices and quotas below are those displayed on Urlbox’s official pages checked on October 3, 2026. Pricing and plan features can change, and Urlbox says VAT may apply.

Option Published price and allowance Best fit
Screenshot API Lo-Fi $19/month; up to 2,000 renders Lower listed spend if you can make API requests and provide your own scheduler, storage, and review workflow. Urlbox describes Lo-Fi as intended for sites the account owner owns; screenshots of third-party websites are thumbnails only.
CaptureDeck Solo $29/month; up to 1,000 captures/month; daily schedules; one user No-code option for one person tracking a modest list of pages once daily.
CaptureDeck Basic $49/month; up to 3,000 captures/month; daily, weekly, or monthly schedules; up to 100 webpages at once; three users More monthly volume, less frequent schedule choices, or a small team.
Screenshot API Hi-Fi $49/month; up to 5,000 renders API workflow needing more volume or features beyond the Lo-Fi tier.

CaptureDeck is likely the simpler choice when you want to submit a list and review recurring captures inside a no-code product. The API can cost less at its listed entry level, but it leaves scheduling and downstream storage or review to your project. Urlbox’s guide demonstrates using Zapier for scheduling and optionally saving results to Google Drive, Dropbox, Amazon S3, or another Zapier-connected destination.

Budget for how captures are counted

Urlbox’s API pricing page says only successful renders count against its quota, and notes that advanced features, long render durations, or larger files may consume additional render units. Its FAQ says render-link screenshots are cached for 30 days by default: a cache hit does not count against quota, while first-time renders and REST API requests do. Review the current plan terms before estimating costs, particularly for long pages, third-party sites, or extra output features.

For a simple estimate, capturing five URLs once per day is about 150 captures in a 30-day month, before reruns or additional page variants. This is arithmetic for planning, not a vendor-published usage figure.

What to check before subscribing

  1. Define “monitoring.” Decide whether you need visual/content change review or outage alerting. Urlbox’s product pages substantiate capture comparison, but the reviewed descriptions do not specify an uptime-check interval, outage escalation, or notification channel.
  2. Choose no-code or API. CaptureDeck may reduce setup for a nontechnical solo user. The API can suit a project that already has code, a scheduler, and a storage or review process. This is a fit inference from the documented workflows, not a hands-on test.
  3. Check retention and export needs. The API quickstart says temporary render URLs expire after 30 days unless you download the image or save it to cloud storage. CaptureDeck’s entry-plan pricing lists one year of retention.
  4. Try your actual pages and schedule. Urlbox’s quickstart and pricing pages advertise a seven-day trial without a credit card for relevant plans. Test the pages you care about before depending on the workflow.

ScreenshotNeo: an alternative to try first

If your project can supply its own schedule and you mainly need a screenshot API, try ScreenshotNeo first: it removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and its paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Its MCP server also lets AI agents take screenshots. For a full scheduled change-review interface or confirmed outage-alert delivery, check that the service fits those specific needs rather than assuming an API provides them.

Here is a one-request capture using cURL; replace the target URL as needed. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo includes 1,000 screenshots per month free with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for free.
