The confirmed demo opportunity was an in-person hands-on appearance at Tokyo Game Show, held September 17–21. The game is planned to release November 12, 2026, for PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Is an October public demo confirmed?
No official announcement found confirms that players can download or otherwise access a public demo in October. Shochiku Games announced an in-person playable demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026, scheduled for September 17–21; that event opportunity does not establish an October demo for the public. Shochiku’s August 28 announcement describes the Tokyo Game Show appearance.
That distinction matters: a demo at a scheduled event is not the same as a downloadable demo on Steam or a demo available to everyone. Check the official Shochiku Games site or the game’s Steam listing for any later announcement before treating an October demo as available. Storefront details can change.
When and where is the game planned to release?
Moomin: Midsummer Madness is planned for November 12, 2026, on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Shochiku also announced a physical Nintendo Switch edition for launch, but that announcement alone does not establish which territories or retailers will stock it. The date and platform information appear on the official product page; Steam also lists November 12 as the planned PC release date on its product listing.

What kind of game is Moomin: Midsummer Madness?
It is a single-player point-and-click adventure inspired by Tove Jansson’s 1954 novel Moominsummer Madness. Players guide Moomintroll and Little My as they try to get home after a flood. Shochiku describes hand-drawn environments, puzzles, mini-games, conversations with characters, and an in-game hint system, and presents the adventure as suitable for children and adults. See the official game website for the publisher’s description.
Steam identifies Crossbridge Game Studios as the developer and Shochiku as the publisher. The official premise and release announcement also connect the game to Jansson’s novel; it is an adaptation-inspired adventure rather than a newly announced book release.

- COZY SOLO OR DUET GAME: A puzzly Shakespearean adventure designed for one or two players (ages 8+) in a charming 15–20 minute challenge.
- RED-REVEAL POTIONS: Lay forest cards to connect the characters to their goals. Some goals require a drop of Puck's magic potion, with bonus points revealed at the end of the game with a red-reveal token.
- ENGAGING ARTWORK: Each double-sided card is filled with hand-drawn artwork. Characters and forest paths are rendered in detailed watercolor illustrations.
- REPLAYABLE & PORTABLE: No two games are the same, with changing maze layouts and clever mechanics that keep the experience fresh with every play. Everything fits neatly in the vinyl wallet for on-the-go play.
- WHAT'S INCLUDED: 21 maze cards, 3 starting glade/challenge cards, 6 magic/red reveal tokens, 1 score card, instruction booklet, blue and gold vinyl wallet.
What to know before choosing a version
- PC: Steam lists the planned November 12, 2026 release. A public demo is not established by the event announcement.
- Nintendo Switch: A physical edition is announced for launch, but territory-specific retail availability has not been established.
- Nintendo Switch 2: It is included in the announced platform list; the cited information does not specify a physical edition for this system.
The reliable demo information is therefore limited to the Tokyo Game Show event appearance. If you are deciding whether to wait for a demo, look for a separate announcement that explicitly names a public download or open-access demo.
