The Bose SoundLink Max Portable Speaker was reported at Amazon for $279, down from $399, on October 8, 2026—the day after October Prime Day ended. Bose’s U.S. store also displayed $279 against $399 when checked on October 9. That is a 30% reduction from the stated $399 price, but neither snapshot guarantees the offer or stock is still available; check the live listing before buying.
What was the October Prime Day deal?
Resourceful Man reported on October 8, 2026, that Amazon had the Bose SoundLink Max for $279, compared with $399. Bose’s U.S. outdoor-speaker category independently showed the same prices on October 9, but that confirms Bose’s displayed price—not Amazon’s current listing. The deal is therefore a dated price report, not a live guarantee. Read the October 8 deal report and check Bose’s U.S. speaker listings for their current displayed prices.
What you get with the SoundLink Max
Bose’s specifications list Bluetooth 5.4, a 3.5 mm audio input, USB-C, and compatibility with the Bose app. Bose also says USB-C can charge a mobile device. These features make the speaker usable with wireless sources and a wired audio source; the USB-C connection also has a practical role beyond charging the speaker itself. See Bose’s product specifications and Bose’s launch announcement.
How rugged is it, and what should you avoid?
Bose rates the SoundLink Max IP67. That rating is a defined dust- and water-ingress protection rating, not a promise that the speaker is indestructible. In particular, Bose’s owner guide says the USB-C port must be dry before you charge the speaker. Do not connect it to power while the port is wet. Consult the SoundLink Max owner guide for care and charging instructions.

What to expect from battery life and charging
Bose specifies up to 20 hours of battery life at moderate volume and up to 3 hours at maximum volume. The 20-hour figure comes with important conditions: Bose’s owner guide describes testing with Bluetooth A2DP, volume at 65%, default EQ, and controlled temperature and music conditions. Actual runtime varies with volume, music, temperature, and whether the speaker is charging an external device. Bose says charging takes up to five hours with a 5V/3A (15W) USB-C supply; charging time can vary with a different supply. Bose’s owner guide and specifications provide the details.
Is it easy to carry?
Bose’s May 2, 2024 launch announcement describes an integrated, removable rope handle and an optional rope carrying strap. The strap is an accessory, not something to assume is included with the speaker; verify the contents and current availability in the retailer listing. Bose’s announcement establishes the accessory option but does not confirm a current retailer listing.

Should you buy it at $279?
If you want a portable Bose speaker with an IP67 rating, app support, Bluetooth 5.4, a wired input, and USB-C device charging, the SoundLink Max’s reported $279 price is $120 below the stated $399 price. That arithmetic is a comparison with the listed reference price, not evidence that $279 is the lowest price it has ever reached. The deal report’s price-history characterization was not independently substantiated here, so treat the discount as a dated offer rather than a record-low claim. Check the live price, stock, and included accessories before placing an order.
