It can be a good fit for short, host-led news segments, interviews, and explainers—but it is not established as a full newsroom production or editing system. Talk Studio supports recording and scheduling a prerecorded video as a YouTube event. The practical fit depends on episode length, resolution, and whether you want a scheduled live-style event or a standard on-demand upload.
What Talk Studio can do for a prerecorded news channel
Talk Studio is a browser-based recording and streaming product. Its documented capabilities include recording without going live, recording while streaming, inviting guests, sharing a screen, and scheduling a prerecorded video. Those tools can suit a solo presenter or small team making a studio-style bulletin, interview, guest discussion, or screen-share explainer.
Streamlabs’ scheduling guide describes a choice between a “Live-stream” and “Pre-recorded video.” For YouTube, the guide says scheduling creates an event link. That is different from simply uploading a finished video as a normal on-demand YouTube post. The official documentation reviewed here does not establish a direct workflow for publishing an edited file as an ordinary on-demand video.
Check episode length, file size, and resolution first
The main constraint for a prerecorded episode is duration. Streamlabs Support’s scheduling guide, accessed in 2026, lists a maximum upload size of 5 GB and durations of up to one hour on Standard or two hours on Pro/Ultra. The current Talk Studio plans page separately describes prerecorded-stream uploads of up to two hours on Pro. Because plan descriptions and limits can change, check the current plan page and scheduling workflow before relying on a limit for a specific broadcast.

| Plan | Published plan details checked in 2026 | Practical fit for this use |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $9 monthly or $7.50 per month billed annually ($90/year); 720p; one streaming destination; up to five guests; recording/local recording up to four hours per track. | Consider it for a prerecorded event no longer than one hour when 720p, one destination, and shorter recording retention meet your needs. |
| Pro | $17 monthly or $12 per month billed annually ($145/year); 1080p; unlimited destinations; up to 11 guests; recording/local recording up to ten hours per track; 30-day recording storage; custom RTMP destinations; prerecorded-stream uploads up to two hours. | Likely the tier to assess for 1080p or a scheduled prerecorded episode longer than one hour and no longer than two hours. |
Both plans are listed as having no watermark and unlimited streaming. The plans page advertises a seven-day free trial. Prices and inclusions are subject to change; verify them with Streamlabs before subscribing. The duration recommendations above follow the published limits; they are not independent performance-test results.
Choose the workflow that matches your YouTube goal
For a scheduled event
If you want viewers to watch at a scheduled time through a YouTube event link, Talk Studio’s documented prerecorded scheduling workflow is relevant. Its guide says scheduling can be set up as far as 50 days ahead. Confirm that the resulting event format matches how you want the bulletin presented to viewers.

For an ordinary on-demand upload
If you want the finished bulletin to appear as a normal YouTube video that viewers can play at any time, do not assume prerecorded event scheduling is the same thing. The official Talk Studio pages reviewed here do not establish a finished-video upload workflow for ordinary on-demand publication. Plan to export and publish through a separate workflow unless a current Talk Studio trial or product page confirms otherwise.
Recording, editing, and keeping a news archive
Recording modes and session limits
Streamlabs documents two recording modes: cloud recording produces a complete recording and an audio-only downloadable file; local recording separates audio and video tracks for each participant. The recording guide says mobile devices are not supported for local recording. Recording can run for up to four hours on Standard or ten hours on Pro; once the session limit is reached, recording stops even if a live broadcast continues.

Retention and backups
The recording guide says Talk Studio stores the 15 most recent recordings for 15 days on Standard and 30 days on Pro. Expired recordings are automatically deleted and cannot be retrieved, according to Streamlabs. Download and back up material you may need for corrections, clips, or later repackaging rather than treating Talk Studio storage as a permanent newsroom archive.
Editing and production control
Browser recording, participant tracks, screen sharing, guest invitations, and branding may cover a straightforward studio-style segment. The official pages reviewed do not establish a detailed newsroom rundown, advanced editing suite, or complex multi-camera control. If your process depends on those capabilities—or on reviewing and correcting a complete edit before publication—test the whole workflow with a representative episode and expect that another editing tool may be needed.

Prepare your browser, microphone, and connection
Streamlabs’ Getting Started guide recommends Chrome or Safari and a stable internet connection. Its upload recommendations are 10 Mbps for 720p and 20 Mbps for 1080p. These are vendor setup recommendations, not an independent reliability guarantee.
- Open Talk Studio in Chrome or Safari and configure your microphone and any guest or screen-share layout.
- Check your available upload speed against Streamlabs’ recommendation for the resolution you plan to use: 10 Mbps for 720p or 20 Mbps for 1080p.
- Set the destination and fill in the stream title, description, and category as appropriate for your YouTube event.
- Make a short rehearsal recording. Check microphone levels, guest audio, screen sharing, framing, and any branding before scheduling a news edition.
- For a prerecorded event, confirm that the file is at most 5 GB and within the applicable duration limit, then schedule it in advance and verify the YouTube event details.
- After recording, download the files you need and store a separate backup before Talk Studio’s retention period expires.
When Talk Studio is a sensible choice—and when to look elsewhere
It is a reasonable candidate if
- Your bulletin is host-led, interview-based, or a screen-share explainer.
- The episode fits the relevant 5 GB and duration limits.
- You want browser-based recording or a scheduled prerecorded YouTube event.
- The available guest, recording, and branding features suit a small-team production.
Check alternatives or add another tool if
- Your finished video must be published directly as a regular on-demand YouTube upload.
- Your editions exceed the supported prerecorded duration or file-size limits.
- You need a documented newsroom rundown, advanced editing, or complex multi-camera controls.
- You need longer-term recording retention than the plan provides without a separate backup process.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep prerecorded videos playing live on a YouTube channel around the clock, that is a different job from recording or scheduling a news segment in Talk Studio. StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube and uploaded videos, not camera-based live production.
